Along the same line...When I see a comforter in a store that is amazing, I think, "But you have 20 quilts!" And the feeling passes. If I was gifted a quilt, I would be gracious, but loving it would (secretly) depend on the quilt. I would appreciate the work, but I'm not fond of traditional patterns.
I don't think that I would gift a quilt to a quilter. I wouldn't gift a stained glass window to another stained glass maker, either.

Yes, Someone else's work would not be like mine.

My Daughter has made us afghans, They are beautiful. I no longer crochet and I appreciate the time and work it takes to make them. I also have some cross stitch pictures and items painted by her in the 1980s.

I appreciate handmade anything.

Receiving a quilt as a gift would be amazing for me. As others have said, I know what work goes into the making. If someone thought enough of me to spend their time to make one, I would be so touched. That being said, I don’t have quilts just hanging around my house. I might feel differently if that were the case.

I would love to have a quilt given to me

Years ago, before my grandmother passed, she made quilt tops for all of her grandkids. I was young and stupid and not into quilting myself, yet. I looked at all of those loose, uneven stitches, and was not impressed and gave it to Goodwill.
However, since then, I began to quilt, and have since realized how much time, effort and love goes into a quilt. How dearly I would love to have that quilt top back, to have that part of her that she gave to me. I have restarted that tradition, and have begun making quilts for all of my grandchildren. I hope that someday, they, too, will realize the amount of time and love that I put into each stitch.
would I like a quilt as a gift? Absolutely.
