Comfort is the number one rule!!! Alot of people wear their quilted/peiced/art apparel. Consider either a fanny pack , or cross body bag in place of a handbag( they can become a nuisance and heavy ).

A light weight backpack leaves your hands free to touch fabric.

Comfortable walking shoes and a credit card with lots of room on it. :)

I've seen people dragging around rolling bags, but those just tend to anger other people who have to trip over them. Take or buy a big tote, maybe with a shoulder strap!

I don't carry a purse any more. It's awful tempting to lay your purse down to look at fabric, patterns, templates or whatever. It's also very easy to forget you did so and walk off without it. Guess how I know.

I also suggest a small water bottle that you can refill at the fountains. I stuff my license, cash and credit card into my pockets and sometimes take a fanny pack or a small backpack to hold the water, some pain meds, tissues and a larger lightweight "shopping bag" (for when necessary)
As they said Camera is necessary but in the vendors booths most don't let you take pictures, always ask first.
At Road to California the Boy Scouts have a presence and you can for a couple bucks drop off your purchases for them to hold. Maybe there will be something like that. I have trouble carrying stuff all day and usually my friends end up carrying my purchases by the end of the day.

Wear comfortable shoes. The weather forcast is high 70 to low 80, but I wouldn't wear shorts, you might get cold in the the convention center. Rolling bags aren't permitted, so bring a large purse/bag. You might want to throw some snacks and water in bag, they are $$$ to buy.

Don't take a rolling tote! If you do not have medical permission they are forbidden on the show. In 2009 many were asked not to use it.

For garment: comfy shoes, and wear layer upon layer. Outside it's hot, inside it can be cold due to the airco. If you were layer upon layer it is easy to adapt.
Have fun quilting!

Take something to eat. I have never gone to a big show and not needed to eat and then the lines are so long and the food is so expensive, we started to take our lunch/snack so we wouldn't waste time and money in lines for food.
