Simplicity Bias tape maker isn't what I thought it was. Help!!!

I bought a bias tape maker from Simplicity thinking it would be great for making binding. Well, it doesn't make binding the way I do and I don't even know how to sew this binding on a quilt. I thought it would just fold the 2 1/2" fabric in half, wrong sides together, like how I do when I bind a quilt. But it double folds it, like for making an apron or vines. Am I kooky? Anyone know how to make it fold the fabric in half? I have two tips, a 2" and a 2 1/2". Please help me. Jeanne

There's another tip you can buy for the machine that will fold it in half like you want. Made especially for quilting.

Yes you will need to buy the binding tip...

I feel the same way, where do you get that tip, I cannot find it on the internet?

You can get the tips at JoAnns also. At least they had them when I got mine over a year ago. With that tip I've been happy using the machine to make my quilt bindings. I have the other tips to use to make binding for other things like baby bibs and potholders :).

Our Walmart has the quilt binding tips for about $7 in the fabric area.

Sorry, I have to laugh. You got a bias tape maker and you're surprised it makes bias tape?
