Invisigrip is good. I have also bought the rubber pieces that you put on the back of cutting boards and they work well too but you have to put one on each end meaning 4.

My DH got me a filet glove to wear. I put sandpaper squares on, but better with the glove.

Thank you all for the information. God bless.

Sorry, don't have time to read all the replies so someome may have mentioned this already. One thing that helped me was to be sure to move my hand up the ruler as I cut, so my ruler hand was always fairly even with the rotory hand. Use the inch worm movement with my ruler hand as I cut. Hope I described this so it makes sense.

If your left hand is on the ruler, let the end of your fingers be off of the side that you are not cutting on. That has helped me keep my ruler steady.

Hello, all. I have just re-read all of the replies to my question. I ordered a InvisiGrip recommended the first day I posted, from Quilt In A Day. Hope it comes soon. Also, I am going to try the other suggestions as well. I have some very fine sandpaper from the shop (used slightly though, but some good part).

You all have been just wonderful. Wish I could bring you all to Colorado! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

ps. I am practicing. I have been holding my cutter at the wrong angle, I believe. I am 5'7", so the problem isn't reaching correctly. Just practice, I guess. LOL.

Blessings, Ida

I used rubber cement on my ruler.Just brushed it on thin and let it dry. It's always worked :-D For me anyway.

I cut little pieces (about 1 inch squares) of fine sandpaper and glued them on several places, and it works great for me.

This give me a good grip and prevents a lot of that slipping from the ruler. Additionally any new rulers I buy will be Creative Grid because they seem to hold onto the fabric better. My older rulers have either the Invisi-grip or small sandpaper dots. Hope this helps a bit.

That's kind of what I do. I find that just keeping my little finger off the edge and on the fabric is enough to keep it steady. And whoever mentioned not pressing too hard is correct, too. I don't use any sandpaper dots or anything because it makes it hard to "scootch" fabric a bit if necessary.
