small apple core template
Sometime ago I purchased the small apple core template from MSQC and I have never tried it. I recently was asked to make a memory quilts and she mentioned that she loves the apple core... so I thought I pull the template out and get busy
What I am struggling with is sizing. How do I know how many of the small apple cores are needed for a certain size quilt? Does anyone know? I have had the template for some time, so if there was any paperwork I lost it. Does anyone know how many of the small apple cores go into certain size quilts? Please let me know |

I found this but it is for a large apple core. I'll keep looking.... |

thank you for your responses - I do appreciate the help
I was able to find the ones that you shared, but they are not the same size as the MSQC small apple core template. I can't seem to find the quilt sizes using the small MSQC apple core template. I can't believe its that hard to find ! |
What size are you hoping to make?

What you could do .....
.... use the template and draw out several of them together. Maybe? fill a whole sheet of paper? Then you would know how many it takes to cover about 8"x10" (for example), and could calculate from there. |
What size is the small template. Must know size before calculation.

I have Shar Jorgenson's (Quilting from the Heartland) apple core, it's approximately 4.75 inches long, and 2.75 in the cores. She has layouts for large quilts but not really a chart to do for sizing, but for approximating two together in a T shape would be roughly 7" (4.5+2.5, taking off seam allowances). The final row size with alter a little after that on whether you have an inny- or an outie- row.
I'd measure your template, figure out your two-piece section and figure your length and width that way and that it would be close enough. No borders typically for an applecore... |
I would contact Missouri star, I bet they would tell you.

Thanks everyone! I do appreciate all of the comments
toogie - I really don't know. I just wanted to know when I should stop cutting blocks :) If I can give them back an uncut shirt I would rather do that than cut a bunch of extra blocks that will be pitched QuiltE - that is a good idea... I will have to think about that Quilt 30 - the template is approx 3-3/4" at widest x 4-1/2" at longest Iceblossom - it seems like everyone's templates are different sizes ... ugh toverly - I just may do that :) |
