Small bazaar items.

Can you give me ideas for small items for our guild charity bazaar? Please.

Zinda 02-20-2014 03:46 AM

Totes, purses, coin purses, mug rugs, scissor holders, pin cushions, ring style pin cushions, lap top carriers, scissor fobs, coasters, just a few ideas

sweetpea 02-20-2014 04:07 AM

Look's like "Zinda"about has it all coverd. but I can add topped dish towels, cassrole covers, Baby bibs, bink holders, jar lid covers. Good luck with your bazar.

zennia 02-20-2014 04:20 AM

I would like to add potholders to the list. They sold real well at our last show.

ILoveToQuilt 02-20-2014 04:41 AM

Since you didn't specify quilted items: knitted or crocheted dish cloths. Crocheted pot scrubbers. Pretty mugs with teabags or treats inside (not handmade I know). Quilted bookmarks and book covers.

My guild had a sale table at craft fair. We sold a lot of these in many different sizes. The fancy ones made with velvet, satin, lace, sold fast. The ones made with fabric to be using it up didn't get the AHHHH how pretty this is reply at all. That is one thing most of the guild members have learned about our sale products. Make them fancy or whimsical. Practical usually doesn't sell very much.

Kleenex covers for those little packets. Maybe little fabric boxes. Display them with items in them for inspiration to potential buyers.

Onebyone 02-20-2014 07:46 AM

One guild member made a few tissue covers from Aida cloth. She crosstitched the covers with flowers, birds, bees, etc. They sold out fast.

I have found the humbug (sp) bags are sweet. Useful for any age as you could put small toys in for kids, makeup for girls. You can make them any size you choose. There is a pattern online but I can't seem to find it just now....it has been on my favorites. It turns out to be a sort of triangle with a zipper and tab.

Onebyone 02-20-2014 10:39 AM

The pattern is posted here for the TeePee bag or Humbug bag :http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...o-t122178.html

I've seen them made big enough for sleep over bags and beach bags.

SewExtremeSeams 02-20-2014 10:55 AM

Little rice bags are quick and easy to make. You can make them in a smaller size for pocket warmers.

pattypurple 02-20-2014 05:55 PM

Sets of placemats and table toppers sold well for us

RedGarnet222 02-20-2014 06:20 PM

How about those cute little fabric boxes?

Podunk Princess 02-20-2014 06:28 PM

Those little gift card holders do really well in our area and they are quick to make from scraps.

moonrise 02-20-2014 06:45 PM

I did 9 craft fairs last year.

The little fabric boxes sell fairly well for me, as do potholders, placemats, and quilts. Eye-catching, colorful, modern throw-sized quilts sell faster than the more traditional bed-sized quilts, at least in my experience so far. Most people just see the price, and not the quality or labor involved.

Quilted cell phone cases and Christmas ornaments sold "okay".

Tissue holders didn't sell worth a hoot for me, and naturally I made about a gazillion of them. LOL! ;)

My best seller is handmade earrings for $1 a pair. I used to sell beads and jewelry-making supplies on eBay, and had bunches of inventory left. :)

jitkaau 02-21-2014 03:45 AM

Plastic bag holders, hand towels, scone holders, jewellery rolls, toilet roll holders, soap holders, place mats, mug rugs, table runners.

lclang 02-21-2014 05:16 AM

Covers for e-readers, glasses cases. I once made some little mice from a scrap of gray sweatshirt fabric and added leather thong tails, stuffing them with fiberfill and a little catnip. A lady bought one and then returned the next day and bought all I had saying her kitty played all night with the first one she bought. You just never know what will sell. Goofy monster bibs or denim bibs trimmed with hanky fabric are usually good sellers too.

Any accessory for tablets. Wonderfully easy patterns out there!

Shrink42020 02-21-2014 05:22 AM

I embroidered some blank linen hand towels and they sold quickly

Thanks for posting the link for this pattern. I am always looking for gift ides for my great nieces and nephew.

Grab bags were a hit at our guild's quilt show. A LQS donated items to put into these bags (notions, fabric, patterns, etc.) We sold them for $2.00 each. We also had some priced at $1 but the $2 went first.
Also table runners and table toppers were a big hit.

I think e-reader cases would sell great. Here are photos of my Kindle case that a friend bought me. It is a Vera Bradley so cost a bundle, but wouldn't be that hard to make. It is a soft quilted cotton with a long zipper that curves around and has a small pocket inside for an ID card.

mirish2 02-21-2014 07:32 AM

The covers to wrap around coffee cups are new and seem to be a hit. Bags with treats that have a little poem attached, such a starburst because you are so bright, a tea bag for the times you are in hot water, etc. I think you can find those poems on line. I have used osnaburg and cut it into 20 in squares, stitched a fancy stitch around the square about an inch inside the cut edge. Then stencil or embroider something in one corner and fringe the outside edges. These are used in bread baskets.

ashlett 02-21-2014 10:44 AM

Thankyou all so much.

Thanks a bunch!!!!!! I give money as Christmas gifts and every year I lok for a different container, bag, etc to put the money in. One year I even put the money in rosary cases blessed by the Pope!

HillCountryGal 02-21-2014 01:12 PM

Forgive me if this has already been suggested. Don't think I saw where anyone mentioned pillowcases. Some for whatever upcoming holiday would be good. I.E. Halloween, etc. Granny's love to buy stuff for the grandchildren.

JanieH 02-21-2014 02:32 PM

I read through all of the suggestions and think the only new one I can think of is luggage tags. I passed a booth with them done in Laura Burch fabrics and also very bright fabrics. The lady said she had sold lots of them because people wanted them so they could easily spot their luggage and that dogs and cats were very popular.

Oh, how about casserole carriers and eye glass holders?

What about cute baby bibs? And tea bag holders?

Ladibug 02-21-2014 04:22 PM

Crocheted or knitted dish cloths. The last one I have (1 of 2 given to me by my ex's aunt) is almost falling apart. I am in process of making a new one now. They are made from Peaches and Crème. Not sure if it is cotton or worsted but they last forever. Here is a link to their site and all kinds of free patterns.

Microwave bowl holders

It's just a potholder shaped to fit a soup bowl. Put darts on each side from the edge to the circle you have drawn in the center of the batt. (Circle is as big as the bottom of your soup bowl.) Create top and bottom with enough batting, and sew RST. Turn and close opening.

toverly 02-22-2014 06:19 AM

I'm off to buy Insulbrite for potholders (not for the microwave bowls). I have at least 10 orphan blocks that I can make into good ones for our Guild's Quilt Show. I wondered what I was going to do with them. Thanks for the idea.

Eileen De Ville 02-22-2014 07:30 AM

Mug rugs, ten minute table runners, placemats, Kleenex tissue holders, pouch for cell phone/eye glasses, Christmas tree decorations; etc. The mug rugs are so very popular and sell quite well. Have fun.

whatever 02-22-2014 10:27 AM

what about the bucket hat with the hole for the pony tail that is posted on here moms who make there girls were hts in the summer might love them

janjj 02-22-2014 10:44 AM

When on a trip I saw a tea pot cozy, store was closed or I would have bought one for a pattern. Also many many years ago, before marriage and kids, I did huck toweling (sweadish weaving) one could make the towels or perhaps bookmarks? For our local church sale I plan on trying my hand with the idea on this site about the monthly and/or seasonal door hanging. What a great idea. thanks. We have what we call 'Tour of Tables" members decorate tables with a theme attached to it and room for 6 people to sit to it. We serve a full meal and usually have music in the background or a short program. My table this year will be "Celebration of the candy cane". It irks me when they make candy canes with other colors that red and white. Years ago when I was in charge of the Sunday School Program we did one on the candy cane. was lots of fun.
Again thanks for all the great ideas.

Anything for Christmas seems to go well. We always sell out of the small items listed above, and Christmas. Pot holders always sell well.
Also pretty small items for the walls. Emlibrary, a machine embroidery website, has lots of small items very inexpensive. Mariah

Crochet scrubbies out of net. One of the ladies make them out of plastic bags.

Small quilted boxes may sell well and are very easy to make.

mjhaess 02-22-2014 03:51 PM

Quilted throw pillows, table runners, eye glass cases, lap quilts...These sold exceptionally well at the last Christmas sale our church had....

marymm 02-22-2014 04:17 PM

Really simple teddy bears and small stuffed dogs, cats, frogs or owls, or other stuffed toys. There are some really easy patterns available--I have found free patterns ion computer in years past. The little aprons with pockets for crayons and the rolls for crayons, little dolls or cars are often popular
