You bet! You'll develop plenty of friends, here. This is a great community.

my only kiddo is grown & on her own, too. my first quilt was 43 years ago, a small 9 block throw. That timeline does not make me any kind of expert tho, as I have only made a handful of quilts, that I can remember.

In the late 90's early 80's, I subscribed to a quilt mag. It was small, the size of a readers' digest. The paper was glorified newsprint. Once, in that mag, there was the most amazingly detailed (traditional-way before the art quilts started to be well known) quilt, designed and made by a man. I believe he had won shows & awards with it.

Anyway, men have a long history of being interested in this craft.

For me, it is a creative outlet. Also, I love fabric and sewing. I picked quilting back up March this year.

Paulswalia, there a woman on that forum, but I don't know much about it yet.

Would be pretty un-pc and unfair if it were any other way IMHO, wouldn't it?!

MAl, Great design. Colors never seem to be true on any machine. Don't worry about it to much as long as your tones are good! I understand this is your first quilt and what a project is. Are you going to have any help with this beauty? I would love to see stars in the intersections of the sashing. his is alot for a first quilt though. Just a thought!
peace

Thank you ube quilting - no, no help other than your good selves. We may even see a few beads or applique if I get real carried away!

IMHO a would like a slightly darker sashing. When it is so light, it jumps to the foreground and looks like you are looking through a fence...unless that is the goal (smile). If it is a tad darker, tone on tone, it would blend a bit better, and not be so stark. Again, the "starkness" may be the computer.
