the tricky part is keeping all those strips aligned when sewing out the star
points, as they're cut on the bias and boyyyyyyyyyyyy oh boyyyyyyyyyy do
they like to stretch hehehe

Just remember press press press and press s'more,
when you get to the center you may find yourself pressing in all directions to get it to lay flat and that is the only place that the pints tend to be extra difficult at times. I found the trick is to take your time and don't be afraid of using every pin you have to hold it together while sewing ;) ;)
here's a pic of the one I'm doing now it's a tiny one but so is the one it's being made for :) hehe

Oh wow, that is gorgeous, and thank you for all your tips

Oh i know, sewnsewer did a great tue, only i didnt understand all of it. So silly me thought i could do it my OWN way! And this it would work! NOT! lol lol Had my plan all written down on paper and everything, but diamonds are so hard to calculate the right dimensions! I did 2 1/2" strips, sewed them together, then sliced 2 1/2 the other way, on the 45 degree angle, did they come out right, nooooooo, long and skinny! So now i turned my leftover strips into 1 1/2" strips, and have sliced them, and am now sewing them. I think they look like a diamond. I'm not having trouble sewing on the bias, but wish i knew how to figure, when your strips are a certain width, how far apart to slice them in the other direction. But, i will see how these 1 1/2 inchers work

I applaud you. I want to make one too but am intimidated by the pattern. Keep us posted and maybe your success will be inspiration to all of us to try one.

I did one, and you can too! It takes some time, and I would recommend sizing to hold everything nice whileyou are piecing them together. And pinning! Wow, did I pin alot! I actually drew out a schematic of the point and pinned and pressed to get it to be the correct size and shape. I found an old magazine that had pretty good directions. Will see if it is still around and post it later.

Mine were 2 in strips and I sliced at 2in came out just fine. They do look a bit long/skinny until you get some of them sewn together then they should look more like diamonds.
Thank you btw for the comments. It's almost 2/3 done quilted just gotta do the corners/sides then put his name on it.

Awe thank you, but i think i have it looking right now, my math and directions were just off when i did the second slicing. So now it's just smaller than i planned, but i will fudge it :)

ADVICE: Do not turn the first set on end (or whatever the heck I did) or your lovely gradation will run into the point. .....but then I was a newbie when I tried it.

Good idea, don't wanna lose those points :) You guys are so much fun, thanks for all the cheers! :) So far, you guys will think im insane, but im having no prob sewing on the bias, no pinning, nothing, the sewing part is working perfect, So Far lol, it was the math that threw me. But one of them's looking a little wonky? lol I will see how it looks later, and if i can get my camera to work i'll take pictures :)
