Someone pinch me...I can't believe this is true. LOL
My original plan was to go to the Janome dealer this morning and check out the 6600. Well...I walked out the door TODAY with the Horizon 7700. I won't go into all of the details but...they were offering 6 months same as cash...nothing down. He had asked me why I had my heart set on the 6600 instead of the 7700 and I said the price. He said well...the 7700 is on sale now and will be for a couple of more weeks. He explained that Janome prices are going up but the dealers don't know exactly what date. He said typically they raise their prices in the first 3 months of the year so by the end of March for sure. He spent well over an hour with me explaining everything and then I got to test drive it. OMG...I couldn't believe it. The machine I have now is an Elna that my hubby bought me for Christmas in 1999. He said...things have come a LONG way since then. He did say that the Elna was an excellent machine. I agreed that in all that time I never had any problems with it.
So...he turned the price tag around and I about passed out. Brand new 7700 for $1,999.00. I couldn't get done saying OMG because I was thinking the 6600 was going to cost around $1,500. So I said...you talked me into it...and he laughed and said I really don't think so. I think you talked yourself into it...which was actually true. My instruction lesson is Jan. 27th. I told him that I didn't take advantage of the free instruction lesson with my Elna...but really have to for this machine. My sewing room is a nightmare and I don't have a place yet for this machine so I MIGHT just set it up on my dining room table to play around with it. Then by the time I have my lesson I hope to have this room fixed just like I want it and will bring it upstairs to it's new home. Dang...this thing IS heavy and I do have to take my machine to the class. Anyway...I am just so excited I just had to share with people who KNOW what it is to get your dream machine. Most of my friends and family hardly ever or don't sew...so telling them is like...oh that's nice. |
Have fun with your new baby, I love mine!!! There is a yahoo group specifically for this machine and they are really helpful with any questions you might have.

Wow, that's an amazing deal! Enjoy.
|
Excellent price, congrats to you. I just might have to pay my local Janome dealer a visit.

Yep, I walked in to my LQS with NO intention of buying a machine and went home that evening with a 7700. The crazy part is my 6600 is only a year old. The deal seemed too good to pass up. I sewed on it last night. It was similar enough to the 6600 that I've skipped the lesson, although I might go in to ask a couple more questions.
Congratulations on your new baby! |
Amazing! Of it had been thqt price when I was looking, I would have gotten it for sure. I'd love that harp.space! (though I love the machine I got and am thrilled to have an embroidery module)
Congrats and enjoy |
You ladies are sooooo lucky!

What an amazing price, I have been throwing around the idea of getting the 7700. I too would have jumped at that price. CONGRATS!!

Wonderful for you and a fantastic price! Enjoy-enjoy-enjoy. I love mine and do recommend you take all the classes offered on the machine.

Thanks everyone. I keep going in the dining room to make sure it's there and not a dream. LOL
My husband came home from work and I told him the whole LONG story. The only thing he said besides that's nice is...can it sew on a button. I said of course it can but that's not the reason I bought it. Tomorrow morning I'm going shopping with a friend; but tomorrow afternoon I plan to plug it in downstairs and play with it a little bit. |
Enjoy your new baby!
|
How exciting to have a new machine to play with. Can't wait to see what you create with it.

Awesome! Life just gets better once you have your dream machine!! Happy quilting!

Wow, what a great price! I'm sure you'll enjoy your Horizon, I love mine and I've had her for a year now. When I use my "to class" machine now, I miss the Horizon's special features - especially the thread cutter.

Congratulations. I am sew happy for you. I too had an Elna{ still do}when I went to the Janome dealer looking for
a sewing table. This was several years ago, and I came home with a Janome 10001. They are both set up back to back, so all I have to do is plug them in. You are correct, they are heavy. LOL Send pictures when you get your room cleaned up. I need inspiration. |
Lucky you. I hope that you enjoy your new baby & the classes. Let us know how it goes when you have the chance.
Have a blessed day. debra |

|
Great price and great deal!!! Have fun playing!!! :)
|
Congratulations to you! I am still dreaming! Someday I'll get to get one. Enjoy it till you're silly!

A wheeled case is a great investment for any machine I think. At my age I don't like to lug my machines around any more than I have to.
|
Wow! lucky you.
|
Congratualtions on your new baby. You will have a ton of fun with it.
|
That's wonderful for you! Congratulations.
|
Oh my...enjoy your new machine!! And YES, take advantage of all the free lessons that come with it....you won't be sorry you did!

I felt the same way when I got my Janome 4000, I know it was a long time ago, but it had so many new "bells and whistles" that I traded in my Singer. Originally when I bought the Singer the dealer told me it was the right machine for quilting, however, after bringing in my Singer for the umpteenth time and needing to finish a quilt for a quilt show the next month, I was not happy I was having problems. I think the price was $1,000 - alot of money, but he gave me the money I had paid for the Singer off the Janome. She is still running great and I think she has to be between 12-15 years old and going strong. Congrats on your new dream machine - may you have many hours of happy quilting.
|
Enjoy every moment with her, you lucky girl.
|
I love your story. What a great way to get a fabulous machine. Please test it out and tell us all about it!!!
|
I know that people who do not sew a lot or quilt would choke at the price of the machine. But to those of us who do, what a great buy. I know that you will enjoy it very much. My very first machine was a singer and it had a lot of cams for design stitching that I hardly ever used. I basically was happy that it went backwards and forwards and did a zig zag stitch. But I took a quilt class and they had machines there for us to use.....Bernina's. I fell in love but it took be a good 25 years to be able to afford to buy one oh yeah I bought two. LOL. I do have one that embroiders which I have never used. lol. But as far as taking my machines to class.......I don't like to do that. These machines have computer components and I am afraid of the moving around, toting it back and forth, riding in the car, etc, will harm that. I go to class, take notes and then come home and try it. I love my Bernina.
|
Oh I forgot, if I really need hands on, a teacher will come to you home and give you lessons there.
|
Enjoy your new machine! Luann

Here in Australia the Janome Horizon retails for $2999 the Aussie Dollar is practically on par with the American Dollar, that is why I buy all my craft fabric and equipment from the US. Should find out what the freight would be to Australia for the Horizon 7700.

Congratulations on your new machine. Enjoy that baby and post pictures like crazy!
