Someone stop me!!!!

I have too many daydreams about quilts.

I have a gigantic stash, 5 quilts on the back burner, one on the rack in process... And I just daydreamed myself into buying fabric for a D9P on my lunch hour.

Seriously, though, I just couldn't walk away from these three together:

I think you've come to the wrong place for help. We're all enablers here. :)

mawluv 07-30-2014 01:35 PM

Oh, Girl, those are gorgeous!!! They will make an awesome D9P, if only in your mind!! I have about ???? that only live in my mind! But I still get to pet and fondle the fabric! Hey, it's all good,LOL, just part of being the creative junkies that we are! Enjoy!!!!

tessagin 07-30-2014 01:41 PM

Naw, you just have a lot of creative juices flowing in your head! Nothing wrong with that. Now if we could use our cell phones to take photos of our interior cranial structure!

Jackie Spencer 07-30-2014 01:53 PM

Those are beautiful fabrics!! Please post pics when you get it made, that will be a stunning quilt!!

0tis 07-30-2014 02:03 PM

I belong to the same club - I wish I had 8 arms so I could sew and quilt everything that I have on the back burner. I love your fabrics - I would have a hard time leaving those behind in the store. Don't know if there is a cure except to keep on creating.

AllyStitches 07-30-2014 02:20 PM

So the problem is, do I work on Christmas quilts (4 of them) which are all in various stages of completion, or do I start the projects for me, myself and I and let the guilt hang over my head... Oh, let's not forget my MIL's quilt, which is on the rack as we speak! Think I just answered that one on my own! I'm not so good with guilt! And can I just say, I've never really made a quilt for myself so I'm so looking forward to making my bed once these *two* that I have in mind for myself are finished!

*sigh*!!!!!

Onebyone 07-30-2014 02:21 PM

That will be a beautiful soft color quilt! I get as much enjoyment from choosing fabrics as I do sewing them.

Nammie to 7 07-30-2014 02:29 PM

I used to spend lots of my lunch hours at the quilt shop just petting the fabric and many times some had to come home with me. Now that I'm retired I'm trying to use some of it up! Those colors are so soft and beautiful!

QUILTNMO 07-30-2014 02:38 PM

welcome to club you are normal!!!

toverly 07-30-2014 03:01 PM

Just walk away, slowly, but walk away. Then proceed to say, One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me. That way you'll get a little done at a time. At least that's what I do. :o

crafty pat 07-30-2014 03:03 PM

Would love to help you but I have the same problem.

Doggramma 07-30-2014 03:08 PM

Count me in too! Those fabrics are really pretty together.

AllyStitches 07-30-2014 03:52 PM

I like the one for you, one for me idea. Sometimes I get tired of working the same pattern or colors, so that would be great. I'm also thinking I can keep one on the rack and one that I piece, so I don't get bored of either.

You see what I'm doing here? Justifying the craziness!!!!

nanna-up-north 07-30-2014 06:06 PM

It's okay. Everybody has a little crazy in them. I sometimes have to bargain with myself to get things done that really have to get finished.... I'll let myself work on the project I "LOVE" only after I've worked a certain amount of time on the project I have to get done. I know.... it's kind of stupid.... but it works for me.

KwiltyKahy 07-30-2014 07:09 PM

Too many enablers here to be much help in stopping. Just remember it is cheaper than therapy.

Ummmm.....not necessarily...considering my last paypal statement!!

Last night my DH (the fabric Mule) told me that he's decided not to extend his contract in NC. So I have a month to decide and order what I 'need' from my favourite US fabric sites. Guess what I'll be doing this morning?!?

Linda1 07-31-2014 04:14 AM

I have the same problem. I love to buy pretty fabric. Those colors will make a beautiful D9P.

trolleystation 07-31-2014 06:37 AM

Help /no.......encouragement/yes

Quilt Fan 07-31-2014 06:46 AM

It is incurable. I am an older older Senior. Working on 2 quilts now. The stash has fabric for 3 quilts ready to start and several others in my head.

judykay 07-31-2014 06:49 AM

This board should consider changing it 's name to the "Enabler Board". We are all enablers and am very happy to assist. I just cleaned my craft closet and can't believe the amount of fabric I have. I have a large container filled with scrap fabric as well as two bed in bag bags full for doll quilts and another labeled fall fabric. I am going to give the large tub of fabric to my lqs as they have ladies who sew for charity and can't afford to purchase the fabric. I promised myself I am not even going to open it as I know I will start going thru it and I really don't need, it so I am going to let someone else can enjoy it.

michelleoc 07-31-2014 07:15 AM

Ooh, so pretty!!

Twisted Quilter 07-31-2014 07:35 AM

Let's see...daydreams about quilts, gigantic stash, 5 quilts on the burner and 1 on the rack, and buying more fabric. Sounds like a member of our club!

tlpa 07-31-2014 09:49 AM

Those are gorgeous fabrics! I wish I had more time.....

quiltstringz 07-31-2014 10:18 AM

Those fabrics are gorgeous - what line are the gray and yellow ones? I want to be enabled also

Jeanne S 07-31-2014 10:20 AM

Looks to me like you did good!!!!

AllyStitches 07-31-2014 10:26 AM

I'll look when I get home tonight. I can't remember now! One might have been Westminster, but I didn't recognize the other and it's on the tip of my tongue.

Bring a small piece to work on during your lunch hour (instead of shopping). Instead of lounging on this site, get on your machine and do something constructive with your time. If none of this works, clear out more storage space and SHOP TIL YOU DROP. LOL

MargeD 07-31-2014 12:08 PM

The fabrics are beautiful and when the fabrics are "screaming" buy me, or jump into my cart, they go home with me, although I am probably strange to admit that my fabrics talk to me, and some just won't let me pass them by.

quiltin-nannie 07-31-2014 01:27 PM

Beautiful fabric! Seriously though, since you have so much going on, I don't want you to be stressed, you had better send that fabric to my house. I would take really, really good care of it for you! (And I would hope you forgot where you sent it!)

quilts4charity 07-31-2014 03:34 PM

I'm in the same boat as you, welcome aboard!!!!

MarthaT 08-01-2014 05:13 AM

The only help I will offer is to have you ship it to me...it's lovely!

If it makes you feel any better. I have made a rule this year for my sewing room no more fabrics added until my stash gets smaller and some UFOs get done. But Wed. I was in Hobby Lobby (should fab addicts even go there?) and I only bought yardage for projects I'm making for a sewing class I will be teaching, so far so good. And I did NOT pick up any cute fat quarter bundles or jelly rolls. But, oh dear, there was the cutest monkey fabric in the remnant bin along with some really cheery orange (I don't have orange in my stash), some neutral (you always need more neutrals), oh and I'll just add this red too. Yes, I did it. My stash has grown again!

rosiewell 08-01-2014 08:08 AM

no help here, I too have an overwhelming stash, 34 quilts in progress in various stages and yet I am still saving patterns and buying fabric for future projects.

calla 08-01-2014 08:26 AM

QuiltsRfun said it all....hee hee .........

misseva 08-01-2014 10:04 AM

Coming to Quiltboard for help like this is like asking the fox to guard the hen house. Bwhhhhhhhhhhh

AllyStitches 08-01-2014 12:08 PM

diamondee 08-01-2014 07:04 PM

Oh Yeah! That will be wonderful, Cant wait until I see where you have put the colors. I would have to add a splash of pink somewhere, that seems to be my go-to color lately

Silver Needle 08-02-2014 04:14 AM

I have many UFO's and quilts in progress and patterns. I have finally started repeating over and over whenever I go near a fabric store "Not until you finish some of the things you have". It's actually helping! Haven't bought any new projects for a long time. But there are a lot of Quilt Shows with vendors coming up and I hear Deb Tucker's new ruler and patterns calling me already.

estrogen 08-02-2014 06:21 PM

I told my husband the other night that I had to go into therapy. He looked at me so strangely. I then explained that I was addicted to buying fabric with visions of all the quilts I'm going to make. Needless to say I have 3 unfinished quilts in my sewing room.......SOMEONE STOP ME

You are not strange at all - fabrics talk to me all the time, and jump into my cart as well. And if they are significantly reduced in price, it is utterly impossible to pass them by.
And for those of you who have such a small number of UFO's (someone said they have three "unfinished" quilts), you are my heroes... I have NO idea how many UFO's I have.
But I am happy to say that I finished a quilt yesterday, and delivered it to the buyer today. We were both VERY happy with the results. Now my longarm frame is empty again... but not for long, as I have a regular customer bringing a couple of quilts for me to finish for her.
