Just wanted to say Yeah!!!!! I completed a Bargello quilt with the help of Barb's tute. I took it to the LQS to have someone help me sandwich it together. While there I met a lady who had just gotten a new long arm quilter. She offered to quilt my top for just the price of thread ($15.00). WOW! Nothing like that ever happens to me. Thanks for listening to me. None of my friends quilt and I just had to tell someone.

do you have a link for that tute, this is something I've been wanting to try?
(yes, I know that's a stupid question because a search would find it, and I hate to use this as an excuse, but I was hit in the head, a link would just make it easier)

Fiber Artist 06-20-2010 07:34 AM

Great quilt!

stichinluvr 06-20-2010 07:38 AM

I don't want to rain on your/her parade, but you should ask to see samples first. She told you it's a new long arm, so she may not be experienced yet.

ronee 06-20-2010 01:24 PM

I am new at this. Consequently, the following question is probably not too intelligent. What makes a quilt a bargello quilt?

POosterman 06-20-2010 03:00 PM

Marvelous!

Olivia's Grammy 06-20-2010 03:29 PM

Very pretty. I did a Lighten Strikes. It was a bit of a challenge with the concentration. I ended up with one very bright yellow in the wrong spot. I couldn't stand it so I remove the one 2" block. Fortuantely the LQS had one fat quarter left of all the colors I used and, yea, it was the one I needed.
Let us know how the quilting turns out. I liked the idea of asking for samples. I've heard horror stories about other people having bad quilting experiences.

Minnisewta 06-20-2010 03:54 PM

where can I see Barb's tute? My husband want me to make a bargello for our king size bed.If I mess it up , that's a lot of fabric down the drain.

stichinluvr 06-20-2010 04:04 PM

A Bargello is done by sewing strips together and cutting them into different widths. You stagger the colors and the widths for the effect you want. I usually sew them into a cylinder and cut, then take out the seam to make the design fit. I hope this explains it. I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

nwm50 06-20-2010 04:23 PM

Jaw just dropped !!! Beautiful & stunning!

Minnisewta 06-20-2010 04:31 PM

I know what it is but I want to see Barb's tutorial on how to do it. I'm not real good at reading the directions I'm better at watching.

quiltingfan 06-20-2010 04:32 PM

Very nice love the colors. How awesome for you both. She gets to practice and use her new toy and you get your quilt quilted.

GrammaNan 06-20-2010 05:54 PM

That is so awesome! Good for you.

Maurene 06-20-2010 06:01 PM

Oh my goodness!!!! Stunning!! Felicitations++++
