You are claiming your inner joy of creating. Who cares, really, who cares, if you make magnificent feathers, or each pieces is exact every time? Yes, there are those of us, bless them, who thrive of perfection. That is their joy. Ours, may be color choice, use of scraps, quick quilts, donations to others in need and on and on. We can admire the work, gifts and creative joy of one another but not be envious or feel pressured to be just like them. We call strive to do well, and learn better techniques but really, must we all reach the same standard to be satisfied? I think not.... Butterfli19, be proud of "your master pieces" but never lose the thrill and comfort of "your little world".

I have to agree with you, I like making fun quilts that will actually get used, not hung up on some wall collecting dust.

Nancy, my nephew (who is also my best friend) and I used to take a "road trip" every year. We'd get in the vehicle and drive until we got tired of riding, then we'd stop and get a motel room for a few days and just play tourists. The very first thing we would do as soon as we got into our motel room was to jump up and down on our beds, simply because there were no "grown-ups" around to tell us we couldn't! LOL!

In life we all must grow older, we do NOT have to grow up. Enjoy your life choices.

Nope, not crazy. I'm the same way and I'm as grown up as I'm ever going to be!

We all have our comfort zone with making dolls, quilts, etc. I'm basically a quilter person, but I will admit I have seen a couple of dolls in my life - those a person (child) can squeeze or change the clothes, and I'm guilty of stopping my quilting to make a doll. Only two in my life so far and yes, I too am in my 50's. I think when I make quilts, another "mood" thingy. Some of my quilts are happy and bright, others are softer and more serious in tone. Do what makes you happy - whatever the choice, it's your own and an expression of one's heart.

Good for you!!!!. I am the same way. I Love making simple slice and dice or strip quilts rather than spending more time cutting and cutting little pieces. It's just not me. I do however love to appliqué on these simpler made quilts. and my appliqués are getting larger. Easier to go around LOL. I'm over 70 so I've to get as many as I can made. enjoy your brights and cheerie quilts as anyone who gets sure does.

I agree with everyone. I make quilts to use . cuddle under and drag around. My SIL is a perfectionist so she is never satisfied with anything she sews. I am glad I am not like her because I just love to sew and nothing has to be perfect.
This has been a very enlightening thread. Thanks for starting it. |
