Sometimes life hands us pleasant surprise
I got a letter from my older sister today and enclosed was a check for 635.00. Wow, talk about a pleasant surprise. We thought when we put our mother in a nursing home 2 years ago, 2 of her life insurance policies were canceled. Turns out the one made out to my younger sister & me was canceled, but one made out to my older sister and brother was not canceled. When they found that out, they decided to share with me and younger sis. Guess what I am using the money for???, no not fabric. I will use some for paint for my new quilting studio, storage units, ect and the rest will go into my "someday I will buy and new sewing machine" fund. I am so happy. Nice to know one nice thing came out of loosing our mom.

So glad you're getting a share of the insurance. So many families fuss and fight over things like this so I'm happy yours didn't. Use the money and think of how happy your mother would be.
wow, what a great surprise. So nice of your sibling to share. My gp are in an assisted living home and my mom and aunties can't agree on anything. I hate to see what happens when my gp's are no longer with us.

When my mom's estate was settled there was a small cash settlement for me and my sister to split. I used my share to buy my Bernina, which I couldn't have afforded otherwise. I think of my mom often while I sew; she made my clothes when I was young and I learned a lot from her, and knowing that she helped me buy my sewing machine is a comfort.

What a nice surprise for you. You could use a little spot of sunshine in your life!!
So wonderful to hear of a family that does not fight over money! I am sure that you will remember your mother fondly when you enjoy the results of the windfall.
What a great surprise!
That's a nice surprise, not fighting over money but sharing! Loosing your mom is hard and the last thing you need is a fight.
What a wonderful surprise you received. Now every time you go in your studio you will remember your mom and thank your older sister!
What a pleasant surprise for you and how nice your siblings would share when they didn't have to. 5 of the 7 in my family would get along and 2 would fight about why they didn't get 10 cents more or why a certain person wrote the check out. Enjoy!
That is a nice surprise. I dread the fight that will go on when my mother passes away. There are 8 children and some are better off than others. Nice that they shared.
I know that this is exactly what my three brothers and I would do. I know that all it would take is a phone call and they would be by my side. When my Dad died we were left with three 3 investments. All were split 4 ways. I bought a serger, had laser eye surgery and now I just bought my new Brother NX2000. Every time I see something beautiful, I think of my Dad, everytime I sew I think of my Dad. My brothers are the best.

Great that your family is so good to each other, many would not have shared. Enjoy it and think of your mom often and let your sister/brother know too.
That is awesome and I think your Mom would be very happy knowing how you are going to use the money!
Isn't is wonderful when family does things like this! Your are blessed.
what a nice surprise.. every time you walk into your sewing room you will have reminders from your mom, but I am sorry for your loss...what a great sister you have
God bless your older sister. That really what family is about....sharing the good stuff.
what a blessing to have a gift from your mom after her passing.
How loving to have family like that. Cherish that fact and remember the fond memories of your mother.
You must be a lovely and loving family. I bet your mum would be very proud of all of you.
I'm happy for you.
I am sure you all are very close as it was a nice thing for them to do. Paint your room and enjoy it!
Good for you, enjoy

So nice to hear families do what they should do.
It's so obvious that you and your siblings were raised with the correct value of share and share alike, especially when it comes to final distribution of an estate. God bless your older siblings who didn't selfishly keep what I'm sure your Mother would have wanted shared equally.
Thank-you for a life lesson repeated. |
that is a wonderful surprise. I am glad your sibs were wonderful enough to share with you guys. And that there was something to share.
My condolences on the loss of your Mother. How wonderful that your family does not let money get in the way of family.
Very nice surprise.
Sew nice that you all shared. Mom would be so happy with what you are doing with yours. When I was a baby I got some savings bonds which my Mom had held on to. I was using my Grandmas' sewing machine which sews. I was making down coats for my siblings for Christmas presents and was so frustrated. My Mom pulled out the savings bonds and I got a Singer Free Arm. That is my baby and when I sew I think of all the loved ones that made it possible.
Nice surprise and nice that your sibs shared with you! Sorry about your Mom, but I'm sure she'll be glad that you will get something nice.
What a great surprise! Nice of your sis to do this. Glad to see you all get along so well~
Wow what a nice family you have, and what a nice surprise. Your mom would be so proud of all of you. good on all of you!
I'm glad this insurance/financial issue has brought you even closer together. Unfortunately, the opposite quite freq. happens.
So glad you are all working together through this. Hurts bad enough losing someone, so we have to try harder to make more good thoughts and memories.
How wonderful! Congratulations.
I'm so glad to hear your brother and sister are sharing their inheritance with you. I've known too many that wouldn't share anything. You are blessed. Enjoy your windfall. |
That's so awesome :) Enjoy your goodies as your mom would love to see you enjoying them too :)

I love surprises like that. I have been the recipient of them occasionally. Usually not that high, though. One time though we had a letter from a company my husband used to work for. It sat on top of our piano for probably six weeks or so. I was cleaning one day, and I almost threw it away unopened. Then I thought it might be something he may need to take care of, so I opened it. There was a check for a little over $10,000 in it! Wow! What a great surprise. What was really funny is that I had been working on our bills and knew we owed just under $9,000 to credit card and the pay off on our car. Perfect timing. We were out of debt for about 2 weeks!

How nice for you! Your Mom would be so proud of all her children for sharing and getting along with everyone.
What a great surprise! How wonderful of your family and what a testament to you and your sister!
