It thrills my heart to know that the fabric is being placed in the care of someone who will love and care for it as much the lady who passed away. Wonder if there will be more than just fabric when you start unpacking the boxes?????

Yooper32 07-01-2011 03:22 AM

Wooo Hooo! It's Christmas in (almost) July. What a celebration you can have.

...wow - guess you were right...when one says a lot of fabric, they mean it!

Congratulations....and how sweet you were thought of....

May that fabric be put to good use and make many people warm and comfy under your quilts!

What a haul!
I am in Okklahoma, too---when you get ready to thin it out.
I always need fabric for charity quilts, as I try to make at least 3 per month.......AND I could always use some vintage fabrics to repair old quilts.....

Congrats on the wonderful gift. I would say this sounds like a really great idea. Unless your cousin has assured you that this come from a clean home or one that doesn't have bug issues. Have fun going through your treasures.

jgriinke 07-01-2011 06:11 AM

How great was that! It is great that the family realized that someone would just love to have it.
Enjoy!

mimee4 07-01-2011 06:13 AM

You have been mightily blessed. A friend who knew you quilted and cared. The family of the woman who passed. You precious husband who knows quilters and their stash and was willing to go and get the boxes. How wonderful!

luvstoquilt 07-01-2011 06:19 AM

WOW! and I was about to brag about my $5 purchase at a local garage sale!

Farm Quilter 07-01-2011 08:17 AM

What an awful problem for you!

It will be a great deal of work to sort through it all...unless it was packed with some sort of organization to it! Perhaps your quilty friends will be willing to help you get it under control...and take a bit off your hands  Are you close to me??? I'll help!!!

Divokittysmom 07-01-2011 08:17 AM

ging10ging 07-01-2011 08:51 AM

Wow sounds like a blessing in disguise. How wonderful maybe you'll be able to make things to sell or open your own shop. Sounds like a lot of fabric was looking for pics. I think I have a love affair with fabric it's like it calls me as I walk by it. Have a good time sounds like a new sewing room to use also. Hope you have a good time and good health. Sue

I agree. it had to be stored somewhere other than the house, so do a careful check as you open each box and keep the washer going. smile. congrats on such a gift. my eyes are getting a little green.

My DH is going through OK right now. He can take some of it off your hands if need be! LOL!

callie 07-01-2011 09:58 AM

I'm thinking you hit the mother load, the father load & the grandmother load. Soooooo excited for you, but agree with the others - shake it out first, especially since you have to store it. I just hate those pesky little surprises (LOL). FYI - I can't imagine having to wait to see what you've got - that must be driving you crazy. ENJOY and who knows what God will have in store for you with all that wonderful fabric.

Joanie2 07-01-2011 10:39 AM

Wow! We think we have a lot and then BAM! someone has more than we could possibly collect! Looks like you will be going through it for a long time making new discoveries and imagining new quilts you will make. I don't think my husband would be as accommodating to receive that much fabric but I would certainly give it a try. Have fun going through it all. Maybe you'll have to add on a room just to hold it all! :)

MoMoSews 07-01-2011 11:06 AM

Goodness gracious!!! Pay it forward

AngieS 07-01-2011 11:09 AM

It's awesome that it went to someone that will appreciate it. :) I'm sure the lady that had the fabric would have been happy it went to another quilter that would use it. :)

My husband would have been like WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS?!! He would be like-you know if you sew from now until you're 112 you won't use this much. Well, I'd sure try! LOL

RobertaMarie 07-01-2011 11:23 AM

What a blessing. Were I in your shoes, I would pay it forward and invite my friends to come help sort it out and share it. The groups who make charity quilts would love some and lots of people could benefit, and you would still have more than you could use. Our guild had lots of donations that they displayed on tables and told the members to take what they wanted and leave a donation for the guild fund. There will be lots of charity quilts made from them.
I am glad you were the recipient and not me, but that is how I would choose to do it. Blessing of love and wealth to you.

MargeD 07-01-2011 11:24 AM

I'd say you have a very dear husband, who would go to pick up the fabric for you and now say "Now where are you going to put all this fabric?" I think he's a "keeper". I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your completed sewing room. What a treasure to receive.

iowalady 07-01-2011 11:33 AM

Oh, my goodness . . . . my niece has 'lots' of fabric and she hangs her fabric on hangers . . .

IBQUILTIN 07-01-2011 11:39 AM

Sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun putting all that stash away when your room is ready
