Thanks you so much for all your messages. It fills my heart to hear these stories and know I am connected to all around me far and wide. I greatly appreciated your thoughts.
I have been perfectionist about what I do and for years didn't do quilting because I was so worried about the level of perfectionism,in my eyes, needed to make a beautiful quilt. One of the great lessons from this craft for me is letting perfectionism go and I get a chance to be rewarded for having done that now with the two quilts that have come back to me and my sister. My mum still had the dress she wore to my wedding in her wardrobe which was made of a type of silk so I am going to make a small something, perhaps picture for my sister and me with a type of crazy patch block using this fabric and some other treasures we have found. This craft is really going to help me heal. Thanks again everyone.

I am happy I made a quilt for my Mom and pray she lives to enjoy it a few more years. She is 83. (Dad died @ 67 before I had time to make a quilt for him) I know it will help me with my grief when the time comes that my Mom passes. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sister.

I, too, have one that I made for my mother, who died in her sleep. I think of her often and how she had made a special point to tell us that she threw this quilt over herself every afternoon at siesta time.

Maria,
Sending you my deepest sympathy and hugs of comfort. Thank you for taking time to share your words of wisdom. My dear friend who died recently was still waiting for the quilt I planned to make for her. I will try not to wait before making a quilt for someone I care about. Your thoughts touched my heart.

Sorry for your loss! My FIL passed 2 weeks ago and I had DH collect his clothes for me. I'm going to make a quilt for DH and his brothers. There are 4 of them. I felt like a waitress because they were giving me orders on what they wanted. I told DH Their getting what I give them. I was doing this out of kindness. Now it's feeling like an obligation. I'll get over it .

My Sympathy and Prayers go out to you and your family.. I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. But I'm glad that you found the quilts and that your sister has wanted one of them too. God Bless You.
