Only your 4th quilt? Well done. I can see you winning at shows in the near future. Your quilt is spectacular.

Great quilt I love everything about it. You have some great advise and ideas about quilting. Be sure to show us again once you get finished.

How ambitious, great job. Don't think I was as brave on my 4th quilt. Sometimes a slightly curved quilting line off-sets a very geometric pattern.

very very beautiful

wow that is a wonderful 4th quilt! love the colors and design ... I like the idea of a soft curvy quilt line if you can handle that on your machine ...

Love the quilt. What is the pattern?

Beautiful quilt! Congratulations! I love your color choices; the squares really pop against the black and white. Don't know what your backing is or how the orange thread would look on it. And though I fully understand your desire to use use orange thread (I'd be tempted, too!), personally, I'd quilt it in white, simply to be, as you say, safe. It will be gorgeous either way, though!

I was searching for quilting ideas and came across this post. http://blog.petitdesignco.com/2012/1...-quilting.html
I plan to use some of these ideas for some of my quilts. |
Fourth quilt? Really you did a fantastic job on it, and I like the fabrics you chose with the unusual yellow and orange. I would check the batting I was going to use to see how far apart you can quilt, then I would stitch diagonal lines, intersecting between the yellow and orange along the block's lines, with the cross-hatching as this is a more modern quilt. It's also a lot easier to quilt that way, you can do half the quilt, then turn and do the other half without too much of the quilt being bunched up under the harp of your machine. I might use a cable for the borders, and you can get the rolls of pre-marked paper that has an adhesive edge to help it stick to the quilt. I've used those rolls on a number of quilts and I'm always pleased with the results. Great quilt. I might use a dark grey thread, or a unique variegated rayon thread for the quilting.
