Many of you know I am still in a wheelchair as I broke my right ankle badly and spained my left. A quilter and member here, she knows who she is!, said she was sending me a squishy to brighten my day. Well it turned into a box of goodies and I was astounded. WOW is all I can say. She made not only my day but the almost 4 weeks I have been laid up and unable to sew except by hand. What a great group of people here--quilters are the best!

nwm50 08-31-2010 05:22 PM

surprise's or squishes do make your day! Hope your ankles heal quickly.

that is so great, what awesome gifts

mom-6 08-31-2010 07:52 PM

So sorry you've been laid up. Broken or sprained...neither is fun and both is just over the top!

But squishies do help make it better.

Prayers for speedy recovery (I know you feel like it's taken much too long already...I certainly did when I broke my foot years ago)

Luckynumber7 09-01-2010 08:19 AM

How nice! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

ptquilts 09-01-2010 08:54 AM

OK, I'm new here, what is a squishy? (sounds like something I clean out of the back of the veg. bin in the fridge)

prezzy 09-01-2010 08:56 AM

PTquilts I just love the sound of your squishy, I have had a few of them. lol

ptquilts 09-01-2010 09:13 AM

it's awful when you find them with your fingers before you see them with your eyes.

But I still don't know what Franie got??

Frannie got a box of "fun things". Could be anything, like candy, magazines, material, stuff like that. A squishy is kind of a present. :)

Hope your ankles are getting better Frannie! Let us know what the doctor says! We need you at your Lizzy and back on the board (full time) We miss you!

deltadawn 09-01-2010 10:23 AM

Usually means an envelope of fabric that feels soft and squishy when you pull it out of the mailbox. So Franie was expecting an envelope, but actually got a box!

Franie, best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I pray you will soon be back to your old normal! It is no fun being confined and not able to do what you love best. When someone brightens your day, it is really a good feeling.

cwessel47 09-02-2010 05:54 AM

I have great sympathy for your injuries. Last winter I slipped on the ice and broke my right wrist very badly. Yes, of course I am right handed. With surgery - three weeks after the break, and recovery, I was out of commission for 3 months. No job AND no quilting. Losing my mind! I finally did a cross stitch project with my left hand. Ver-r-ry slowly but I had to do something! Rapid recovery wishes coming your way.

SNUGQUILT 09-02-2010 06:04 AM

That's so awesome....how sweet of someone to bless you. Hoping you recover soon and will be back at it! :)

I am still marveling over my box of goodies! By the way, did I mention there was chocolate in my box of goodies? Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. They are working! Dr said it is healing nicely and I can start to put some weight on my broken ankle. Still have the boot for a while yet. Gonna try sewing with my left foot.

inletjerry 09-02-2010 04:41 PM

Sorry about your ankle, can understand what you are going through. Had an open fracture to my left ankle and was wheel chair bound for 6 months, then almost a year of therapy after 2 surgeries. Good luck and keep the Squishys coming.

My sister breaks (car) with her left foot. Not a pretty sight - at least not for the passenger (me!) LOL Be careful, don't run over your fingers!!!!!

Very glad to hear you are healing well.
