Check your local library, if the book is in their "system" they can get it for you. More $$ for fabric! YAY!

I agree with those posting to try the original first.
there may still be a single pattern available for this one. After that you can get the book with variations if you are still "hooked" which you will be. |
after you make one you will discover that:
1. you will have another cut to start sewing 2. another group of fabrics lined up to begin 3. any number of pieces of fabric to "do later" 4. your thinking will be impaired every time you go to a quilt shop to the point you can't see any other fabric than stack-n-whack prints. For the original it takes 8 repeats or about 6.5 yds and about 4.5 yds for the background and borders. Other designs require less repeats. But all of them are based on number of repeats down the edge of the fabric. You can't use the same motif from any other place in the quilt. These can be used for other sets of blocks beyone the 8. |
I love Stack and Whack. I used to teach the class when I worked at the LQS. It is so much fun to see all the different designs that can come from one piece of fabric. The blocks themselves are not hard to stitch. It's all in the cutting of the fabric. www.bethanyreynolds.com also has some great ideas and wonderful charts on her "cool stuff" page. She give directions to make the pinwheel block in miniture and also gives the setting triangles for many different blocks sizes. Her web site is very interesting.

you can make your own mirror and it might be less expensive.
Go to Home store and get two mirror tiles and some duck tape. Hinge them together and you have a good mirror for viewing. |
