Stained Glass Quilts
How do you select the fabric (colors) for a stained glass quilt?
|
I'm sorry I can't help but interested in what others have to say. Good luck on your search.

That is one type of quilt that I really prefer batiks for. If I'm using a lot of colors and smaller peices I'll get fat quarter sets so I have a lot of variety. if I am following a specific design then that will dictate the colors I use.
this one was done with a lot of random fabrics with narrow black sashing for the "leading" this was a very easy quilt to make https://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c...psfnioazn8.jpg This one was inspired by the windows in the Chapel on the campus were I work. I made 1/4" bias and top stitched it on for the leading. This quilt was a lot of work! https://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c...psbuorv9go.jpg |
The stained glass quilts I've seen have all been done with batiks, but I'm sure there will others that can help more.

Was this paper pieced? It is a beautiful quilt.

I love stained glass quilts. These are both beautiful.

I've never made one but I also thought batiks or jewel tones.
Macy, yours are lovely! |
I have several patterns sitting here for stained glass quilts but have't done a one yet. This may be the inspiration to get moving after the holidays.

Macybaby-your quilt is so beautiful and the colors are so perfect. I agree with everyone else that jewel tone or bright batiks would make a pretty stain glass quilt. Good luck

I just went back and looked at your pictures again and did not realize you made the second quilt also. I thought that you were standing by a stain glass window. That's what I get for looking quickly. Your second quilt (that I thought was a stain glass window) is gorgeous. I love seeing your beautiful quilts when you post them on this board. You are such a wonderful sewer.
