When one member said every quilt has a story, I agreed. I suggested writing a memoir piece for every quilt, name of recipient, design ideas, thoughts from the process. I can think of 7 quilts I have made this year that have a back-story, a wedding gift, a birthday gift, pieces for my kids, charity donations with special meaning. Why not start a journal & add photos. Dotty

I think I will join you in this! I

I have a journal, and I do write in it every time I start and finish a quilt. My problem is I take a picture, I just don't print it.

Great idea!

I was thinking about doing this...I save photos, and I actually embroidered my latest quilt with my name, date and the quilt's name. But it would be nice to have a journal, with maybe pics of the back and front a bit of a story and maybe snips of the fabric used.
Could be an interesting read for future generations, and it will be in book format which probably by then will be unheard of. |
Started mine this summer. I was taking picutes of my quilts and I decided I needed to get everything is writing before I forget it all.

As a scrapbooker and a quilter, I have kept a scrapbook since I began quilting. I keep a piece or pieces of the fabric, a picture of the recipient (with me when possible), date I gave it to them, any special information about the quilt or reason for the quilt. I also add thank you notes ... of the 17 quilts in my scrapbook, I only have one thank you note ??? I love looking at it myself.
