I need my foot involved when I sew or quilt. When using the button, how do you adjust your speed to the needs of the moment? Is your finger constantly hovering over the button?

I have the Start/Stop button and like using it versus using the foot pedal sometimes. I don't have carpet on my sewing room floor and haven't found a way to keep my foot pedal from moving around. I have to put something between it and the wall to keep it from not moving. I've tried everything else but just use the Start/Stop button so then don't have to worry about the foot pedal moving around me. I wish Janome made a larger foot pedal and that may stop my moving pedal.

Yes, I can also set my speed on my Janome to go with using the Start/Stop button.

I agree with you Tartan. I've never used mine, but it is good to know it's there if needed. Leslie |
Only for embroidery. I like speed control with pedal

I have very bad back issues, so sitting in a chair for any length of time is torture, so just recently I got out a Brother machine I have with a Start/Stop button that's not too heavy, and laid down on my soft bed and tried using the start-stop button. Trying to use a foot pedal while lying in bed is not a fun thing to do. This doesn't allow me to zip right through things as I could with both hands guiding my material, but I am working on getting better at it. My other machines that have this feature are just too heavy to have on my lap.
I really like the smoothness of the Viking machines, but don't want another 40 pounder, so I have just started searching for a newer one that is lighter. I need another machine like a hole in the head. I think I have about 12 at this point. The only brand I don't have is a Janome, but I don't think anything sews a smoothly as a HV. |
I have that same button but have never used it. I probably should try and use it as my foot pedal runs away from me sometimes and I have to stop sewing and readjust.
