Raggiemom 12-30-2012 02:13 PM

Well, I have some ideas in mind for what I want to make. And I did order the fabric to make 2 specific quilts. However, I haven't actually started working on them yet :)

hopetoquilt 12-30-2012 02:21 PM

I was just thinking of what I could make for next year's gifts. I will be heading to Joann's tomorrow to stock up on fabric for table runners and place mats. Maybe a caserole carrier as well. I have to get at it while in the mood. You never know what may strike my fancy and steer me in other directions.

scrapinmema 12-30-2012 04:00 PM

I've got my list made of who gets what for birthdays, graduations, Christmas and what ever comes along. Will make some lap throws and baby quilts and have them finished before needed. I started my 2013 list about six months ago, as I found the pattern and fabrics cut and started the projects. That is the only way I can stay ahead of everything.

QM 12-30-2012 04:10 PM

I generally start in late Jan. I want everything done by August 1 so I can show things in our county fair. Even if they won't be winners, I like to share them with my friends.

lynnie 12-30-2012 04:12 PM

To me, staying ahead is my game. Then i can relax come the holidays. And my dh tells me the firat night of hannauka is the day before thanksgiving. Omg, its on its way already.
First, gotta finish valentines day. Made my cousin pretty pearla d crystal neclace. Real pearls and sworofski(?) Rystals and a crystal heard at the ctr. Will make her matching earrings also.
Im looking for beefcake fabric to make those cute oven mitts someone else showed.

KwiltyKahy 12-30-2012 04:37 PM

Still trying to get last Christmas done!!!

deedum 12-30-2012 06:07 PM

I want to make my fabric pots, as many as 12 or 15. Can do so much with these.
Kitchen embroidery towels, would like a tall stack of them.
Ipad envelope sleeves
Fleece scarves
pajamas
Clover pot holders.
That is just a few of my ideas

Murphy1 12-30-2012 06:52 PM

Well I have somethings planned for next year. I made a Christmas tree skirt that turned out very cute. That was for us, and I decided to make three for family next year, with fabric I still have for Christmas. I also bought some snowman flannel on sale and found a flannel sheet set with snowflakes on it on sale. So I have the makings of a flannel quilt that will be sooo cozy this time next year. That will be for my daughter.

grammy Dwynn 12-30-2012 08:08 PM

My Christmas sewing for this year got way-layed clear back in summer. I was planning on making lot of my gifts. But, between MIL's mild heart attack and moving her into assisted living and being a soccer grammy. My summer/fall was gone. I have done the bust my B..s before and was not going to do that this year. So did the shopping thing.

So that means all the things I planned on sewing for this year .... will be my 'new' ideas for next year. ;)

Pat625 12-30-2012 08:48 PM

Won't be starting for a while..weill be moving over the next 2 weeks...My one daughter bought a house and I will be moving in with her, with her 2 youngest sisters. She wants me closer since my health is deteriorating...She has delegated the Den for me as a sewing room!~! I never had my own space before and so excited!!

crcindy 12-30-2012 09:02 PM

I need to make quilts for my sons birthdays. One in April, and the other in October. I will be thinking about Christmas gifts while I'm making those quilts though!

gramajo 12-31-2012 05:16 AM

No thoughts for 2013 Christmas gifts yet. Ideas seem to come when I see a fabric that would be perfect for someone. I hadn't planned to make a quilt for brother and his wife for Christmas this year until I saw the National Parks line of fabrics. They visited the 58th and final national park on their list this year, so of course, I had to make a quilt for them.

SewMomma66 12-31-2012 05:20 AM

Something to think about.

Lstew2212 12-31-2012 05:22 AM

I am in the planning stages right now, but I always buy fabrics in the clearance bins or something that catches my eye. Our Walmart now has fabric. I collect Christmas and Halloween fabric for the holiday.

SouthPStitches 12-31-2012 05:37 AM

Didn't make quilts for Christmas this year and probably won't in 2013 either. This year, I gave the larger quilted gifts to my friends for their birthdays (don't have any immediate family). It's going to be a big year in 2013. One friend will be a grandmother for the first time in mid April - twins! So you know I have to make quilts. My closest friends are turning 60 this year, so I'll be making probably 3 quilts for the special occasion. Right now I'm finishing a queen size for our room and a good size throw, both scrappy. Have a third all ready to cut out. Several scrappy patterns are appealing to me also.

zennia 12-31-2012 06:02 AM

Yes , I am finishing up a few things and starting more. I just bought two patterns I am ready to try. Both of them are Christmas tree ornaments.

Elisabrat 12-31-2012 06:07 AM

I am doing the block of the week already have two blocks in Christmas scraps finished :) and yes I enjoy quilting sewing so much that I will be sewing for Christmas all year. I give handmade gifts and well only two hands so I have to start early. I am planning on using boom blocks for placemats and wall hanging gifts, tablerunners etc. Last year lost half of it seriously ill thisyear is a comeback year for me :) I will be done by the end of Sept. and happy at that. A bit at a time does add up doesnt it? good post. keeps you thinking which is not a bad thing at all.

sweetana3 01-01-2013 03:42 AM

I got the after Xmas sale on big big gift bags just in case. I am not sure if I will be giving already made quilts or new ones. But the packaging is ready.

Aurora 01-01-2013 04:23 AM

I am enjoying the planning phase for this new year's (2013) Holiday Season (not just Christmas). I so enjoy the planning, will probably start a project in a week or so. Right now I am also anticipating the start of the Mystery Quilt and BOM Season. Gotta love Mystery Quilts. Also, gotta straighten my sewing room before I start any new projects.

kathbug 01-01-2013 05:01 AM

I have four quilts to make before June and three to finish. I bought fabric but not for Christmas items. Need to finish what is on my list first before I can think about that!

nvb50 01-01-2013 05:14 AM

I already started last week. I made 6 twin size and 1 lap quilt since the end of July for 2012 Christmas. I want to do 6 twins and 3 doubles by next Christmas. I went out over this past weekend and bought enough fabric for 3 of the twins. I already had 1 started and I am quilting it today.

Amythyst02 01-01-2013 05:18 AM

I wish I were thinking of gifts but right now I am thinking of the wedding dress I need to make by April. Now it would not be quite so worrisome if I were not going to have to resize the pattern completely. My daughter found this lovely vintage patterns she absolutely loves, and wants THAT dress. But its only 4 sizes too small. So first I have to remake the pattern pieces and get a test dress done, before I can even begin on the final dress. No pressue here : )

So Christmas is the very last thing on my mind.

I started on 2013 Christmas last week. Its never too early. hehehe

judi43 01-01-2013 05:33 AM

I'm going to make 1 Christmas project each month then I won't be swamped come Nov in between I'll be doing a quilt for me, pillow cases and hats for Wounded Warriors. Should keep me busy. Happy New Year Everyone.

romanojg 01-01-2013 05:44 AM

Nope, not me. I still have too many unfinished projects from this Christmas plus a few others. I had good intentions but with the meds I'm taking for newly diagnosed Eplipsys that makes me tired and my body ache and it makes me weak and then grandkids/family all got the flu and working overtime for 3 months prior to Christmas, I got behind. The only new things that I'll be working on in between catching up and finishing what I have going on is for my embroidery class. I take club each month to learn new things, I also have a class coming up that we'll create an organizer that holds my mouse, USB device, pen and tablet of paper that will get a lot of use taking my laptop to my other class. Which is learning more about 5D Pro, my new Diamond Deluxe and the newest part of 5D which is the Stitch Editor Plus. I have to keep learning so this is the only new projects that I'm allowing myself to do until the others are done and out of the way. Good luck on your early start. I think that is great that you can do it. The first project that I want to finish is my DGD 3D pinwheel quilt that I started making when she was about to be born and she's now 22mos so I'd like to finish it for her birthday in Feb. Happy New Years to all of you.

lisalovesquilting 01-01-2013 05:51 AM

I've started crocheting scarves for next Christmas.

Caswews 01-01-2013 05:56 AM

LOL started right after Christmas : crocheting some blankets for the Grands, then looked over patterns for the quilts. Bought a few things from the stores that was 50-75 % off for the Grands. Teaching a 68 year old friend how to quilt so she can make a few baby quilts for her DGS for his bday and Christmas.

donac 01-01-2013 06:38 AM

I was supposed to make lap quilts for my neices and nephew. With the sewing maching in the shop a good part of the summer, hurricane sandy (My neighbors had power in 2 days and it took another 6 days so no sewing) and then throw in a sprained wrist in Dec. I never got things done. I plan to work on 1 a month for the year and have them done for next Christmas.

Bamagal 01-01-2013 06:53 AM

I have already completed a couple of Christmas Towel--embroidered. (I didn't get hem done for this year!! :p )

Patski-Mi. 01-01-2013 07:04 AM

Next Christmas

I am working on a Strata Star table topper. Not sure if it's going to be a gift to myself or for a retirement dinner. I don't like waiting until the last minute. That's what happened last year. Had projects started and then had emergency surgery. Slowed me down . Would like to do a couple of holiday quilts also. There are so many ideas out there that I'd like to make one of each but I know that's impossible. Besides I only have one table and a hutch. Both of my girls like to decorate their homes for all of the holidays. Keeps me pretty busy sometimes. Happy New Year......Pat

fayeberry 01-01-2013 08:22 AM

Am finishing up a small lap size Christmas quilt I started in December just to have something cheery to work on and use up a stash of random holiday fabric I don't even remember buying. I will hold it until next fall, then donate to a resale shop to benefit animal rescue.
