Thanks everyone, I know that you can appreciate the work that went into organizing. I also know that I'm blessed to be able to have a stash like this. My DH knows where to find me for the next year or so.

I hope when you want something from the top shelf that you have someone else get it for you. That is unless you are very tall. LOL

Monika 03-18-2011 04:03 PM

Good job! Have fun in there!!!

LoriMcc 03-18-2011 04:24 PM

I thought I had a lot of fabric-can't wait to move to get it all put away, it will be 5 more months before I get my sewing room organized,Waah!

marlene tarzwell 03-18-2011 05:36 PM

I was just wondering if you are able to cover your fabric on the futon? I would be so afraid of the sun fading your beautiful fabric. Just asking?

Nettie Phillips 03-18-2011 05:36 PM

I love it, love it, love it.

butterflies5518 03-18-2011 05:41 PM

I am fairly new so my stash is small, I just showed your photos to my bf who DARED to make the comment "I like your organization better, you let the LQS store yours and when you want something you go pick it out" he thinks he is really funny NOT!

kjym 03-18-2011 06:14 PM

Oh you should be very proud of yourself. It is beautiful I wish I was so far along.
I think I'm going as fast as watching the grass grow. and here is the scary part we have artificial grass.
What's wrong with this picture?
Oh well hopefully some one all these organized sewing rooms well rub off on me.

luvstoquilt 03-19-2011 06:41 AM

I just thought I was bad!

debbieumphress 03-19-2011 07:50 AM

OK Looks like the shelves are still bending in teh middle. Better sew more quickly. LOL. Love your stash. Mine started out with that much and now half as much. By choice. I hate for all that fabric to sit there. So another way to look at it is, we collect fabrics like dolls, clowns, etc. No way to ever use it all. ♥

Hey, Featherweight! Good to hear from you. You're welcome to come shop at Betty's and lunch would be fun.

All kidding aside, thanks much. Would love to see you again.

Yup, the shelves are bending. I'm sewing as fast as I dare. Just did a piece that I realize is wrong and so now I have to rip out seams. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! All this fabric and I can't even get one project right.

Nope, only five feet and one quarter inch so I have lots of step stools, a grabber and a tall husband.

dixiebelle162002 03-19-2011 12:59 PM

At least you have some of the better quality fabric, some of the fabric that I have seen lately has not been very good qaulity.

Yes, I thought about that too. I have shades that I close when the sun is coming in that window. Thanks so much for noting that though, I very much appreciate it. Wouldn't that be a bummer to have the sun fade some of those beautiful colors before I even got a chance to use it?

This board has made me reorganize my sewing room. I have ordered a bookcase because I took all my quilting books out of my cupboards so I could put my fabric in there. The books were never accessible anyway. As soon as I get the bookcase I will be done and I may post pictures, because I love my sewing room. It is my sanctuary.

That's the way I feel about my sewing room too. It is my little world to escape. My DH knows where I am and I have my fur baby, Shadow, to keep me company. It is my safe haven.

grannie cheechee 03-19-2011 01:04 PM

I love your stash, and how you've found places for it. Good thing your DH is tall.

Thank you so much for noting the extension cord. I do watch it very carefully. The outlet is behind the shelf and I need power for my iron. I'm not big on extension cords, but there wasn't any alternative. I don't want to even think about a fire and not just because of the fabric.

Congrats!! I just spent 2 months organizing mine too. After seeing your stash, I am going to remain on my quilt diet, however I went to the Dallas Quilt show last week and fell off the wagon a bit. I have enough projects to do. Counted all the kits put together. Some from my stash, some I bought and that comes to 45. Plus I have 10 tops that I have to sew the backings for and quilt. I do have the backings with them tho. That there will keep me busy for God only knows. Funny thing.....when I was cleaning/organizing, I would get up ready for the day and work so hard. But it was so satisfying and now that it's almost done........I got the blues, kinda like when Christmas is over with. That just doesn't sound sane does it? I have a huge pile of ironed scraps to cut and organize. That's what started this whole mess anyway. I got an Accuquilt so I could organize my scraps BUT, I had to organize and clean the room FIRST!!! I am so crazy. katie

Your room is so neat and organized. I am envious. One thing I would like to point out, is that the fabric right next to the window and bright sun, is going to fade if it isn't covered.

No, you're not crazy. Yes, as happy as I was when it was done it was like "Okay, now what?" Today was fun, did get to do some sewing; of course, I did it wrong and have to rip it out, but hey I'm sewing.

GrannyHanaDa 03-19-2011 04:08 PM

It looks fantastic.

What a stash!

dede 03-19-2011 04:15 PM

Jingle 03-19-2011 04:20 PM

WOW, you do have lots and lots of fabrics. You need to quilt real fast to make a dent in it.

Deb G 03-20-2011 09:36 AM

What a great job organizing your sewing "center". Your hard work paid off and you'll be more relaxed and productive now.
