After two months of work I finally think I know what I have and my DH is right, I have too much fabric. However I love every little inch of it and plan to spend as much time sewing as I did organizing.
Much of the help came from fabric storage boards and hints I picked up from the members of this board. Thank you one and all. The Beginning Can I Do This? Doesn't it feel great just to get it organized? I'm almost there. I see that you have a lot of novelty fabric. It's challenging to use up, isn't it? Good luck!! At least you can see what you have and can work from there!

what a task - what a great hubby you have to 'put up' with your hobby.
I love the stash on the guest room bed - if I come to visit will you notice if I stick it all in my suitcase? |
What a great stash!
That's a good feeling and alot of work. Congrats!
Love your fabric stash and now neat it is. With the prices of cotton going higher the stash is money in the bank.
Lucky you. I thought that I was at the quilt store.

I'm so gonna show this to my DH. He never complains but he thinks I have a lot and I did too but not anymore. You did a great job of organizing.
HOLY COW :!: :!: :!:
looks like a small quilt store in there (or a medium sized one) my "stash" still fits in zip lock bags. lol ahh someday tho. A girl has to have a dream right! |
I think you did a marvelous job and now you can see what all you have. That way, if you need something you can look and see...and if you don't have it...you can go buy it. :-) Great job, my friend!
Congrats! It looks amazing. Now to the sewing. Have fun.
wow, what a lot of work! It looks gorgeous!
Wow awesome! Have fun sewing.

Looks great! I have paper in my guest bedroom. BTW, I love your Forbidden Planet poster!
WOW...now that's a stash!
Great job! I know you feel better now...and I'm sure some wonderful creations are coming out of that room now!
Don't you just LOVE being able to see all your fabric???
I just re-organized my stash a few months ago and love being able to walk up and see exactly what I have that will work in my current project. BTW..... you do have a marvelous stash!! Happy, happy quilting! ;-) |
Looks like fun at your house. And you will use every bit of it too.
Love the quilt in your guest room- beautiful.
Beautiful stash. No I do not feel so bad with what I have. I noticed an electrical cord on floor in one picture. Please be careful so it does not get damaged and cause a firs. Would not want anything to happen to your wonderful stash.
Great job of organizing! It makes you feel good knowing you can see what you have and that you can start sewing all those wonderful projects!!

I did mine too and I am more productive now that I can see what I have. I put all of my small scraps into containers and I'm now working on piecing scrap quilts from them. I put one top together and haven't even put a dent into it!

I live in Nebraska, I am coming with my suitcase. I can visit my sister who lives in Vail. I love all of your beautiful fabrics.
Looks like you shopped til you dropped a few times. What a wonderful stash!!!! Now, sew your little heart out!
Wow, I have nothing compared to you....makes me want to run out and "catch" up
Wooow! Great job.......I am almst done with organizing mine, but it is teeny tiny compared to yours. I love how it feels once you have organized and can look at all the pretty fabric!!
I cleaned out my craft closet this week and inventoried the batting. I keep buying batting on sale and didn't know I had so much. For project yesterday I knew which size to grab and where it was located. Before I put the left overs in the closet I will update the inventory to reflect the new size after cutting into the piece.
Wonder how long I can keep this up? Love knowing what I have. |
And I thought I had a stash! Wow! You have a very nice arrangement of your fabric - happy sewing!
I think the next time I need anything I will come shopping at you house.
Beautiful stash! Really looks good and all your organizing really paid off.
Absolutely amazing! You did a fantastic job. I'm in awe.
I'd love to get my fabric organized, but, if I did, I probably wouldn't be able to find anything. lol. Right now I have some upstairs in the little bedroom, some in bins in the guest bedroom, and some downstairs in my sewing room. I know right where everything is.
There is a sale on fabric at Hancock's do you wnt to go shopping???
Holy cow!!! You do have alot of fabric, lucky you.
Wow! Love the stash! Your organized area is great! Thanks for sharing!
Wow you have quite a fabric store there.
This board has made me reorganize my sewing room. I have ordered a bookcase because I took all my quilting books out of my cupboards so I could put my fabric in there. The books were never accessible anyway. As soon as I get the bookcase I will be done and I may post pictures, because I love my sewing room. It is my sanctuary. |
I am impressed!!! Great job.
Very nice organization
