i pray you will find your quilt such a crime as this shows how much people do not understand quilters
That is just so darn disgusting that someone would steal your quilt during a home invasion! I pray that it turns up.
good suggestion to get a hold of the local tv station or newspaper for a human interest story.. |
I hope you get your quilt back.
I'll keep my eyes open here in Southeastern Oklahoma! Good luck with the search.
I wonder if someone was cold. why would they take a quilt like that. I know your hearet is broken and I pray you find it.
Craigslist--offer to buy old quilts and see what pops up. You don't have to buy them all, you know.
I am so sorry about your quilt. You should post this on the Lost Quilts web site then it may get more exposure.
Pat |
I also can't understand why someone would steal a quilt unless it was to wrap up something they stole in it to protect it. Unless, of course, the quilt was exceptionally beautiful, but the OP didn't say that it was.
I'm so sorry to hear this. You should post a picture of it if you have one.
I'd be heartbroken also, I'll be praying for a safe and speedy return of your treasured quilt.
I live in MO, but know some people in OK. I'll send them your description of the quilt. ((((HUGS)))) |
Sorry for your lose.
I am sure that you reported the break in, but make sure the police detective has the quilt info. If the theft was recent, it is not uncommon to find a "dump" site later of what they took in a rush and consider "junk" that they don't want. That way if it is found, they will know it has some intrinsic value
How awful. I'm in Texas but will keep my eyes open, you never know. I sure hope you find it. Please keep us posted. Good luck.
What a terrible thing to happen, someone stealing your quilt. I am so sorry. I will be looking for it - southern Nebraska here. It may turn up where you least expect it.
So Sorry that this happened to you! Its bad enough when they invade your home, worse when the things they just grab up to hold the stuff they really want means something to you. They used pillow cases at our house...sounds like the quilt was convenient for them at your house. Look up and down the roads in your area to make sure they didn't toss it as soon as they got away. Good luck, I sure hope you find it!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. The thief went straight for your heart!
So VERY sorry to hear this.
I am so sorry to hear about this. Hope you can recover the quilt and other items that were taken.
I'll keep an eye out for it. check the salvation army near you house and thrift shops.

Just a point to make always take a picture of the quilt. Sew somewhere on the inside your name and that will help hopefully in finding it.
I'm so sorry about the missing quilt. I will pray that it turns up as I can only imagine how precious it is to you.

I am sure whoever took them didn't get a lot of money for them, and certainly did not take them because they loved them...It makes you feel so violated when that happens...

Put together a brief biography of your grandmother that highlights anything notable she did in her life and/or the reason she made such an impression on you. If you have a good picture of her, include a copy. Estimate the number of hours you spent creating that quilt. Give the name(s) of the police you had contact with, their professional number and whatever information they gave you. Talk about how this is irreplaceable and how your insurance company is (or isn't) handling it. Mention the reward. Do some research and see if other quilts in the area have also been stolen. The purpose of this packet is to give to a reporter, which gives as much of the foundation for a report as possible. Ideally, all the reporter would have left to do is make a few calls to collect quotes. Then look at your local media outlets (papers, TV, radio, etc). Figure out exactly which reporter at each outlet does stories like this; focus on reporters who write about family hardships, pets, neighbourhood issues, etc. Send your packet of information addressed to each reporter in care of the outlet they work for. Include a cover letter that says why you believe your story might be a good one for this particular reporter to cover. You can mention other stories that reporter has done that somewhat resemble yours in some way (everyone loves to hear that their work has been noticed and appreciated). Be sure to include your own contact telephone numbers and the easiest time(s) to reach you. Good luck! |

Even put up flyers all around town telling about it. Someone knows something. Would a news station maybe to an investigative story for you? Good luck I hope it turns up. |

It disguises them so the neighbors won't get suspicious. Sorry this happened to you. I have a quilt that has fabric in it from my deceased DIL and would be heart broken if something happened to it. It is ear marked for her daughter when she gets old enough to appreciate it. Ann in TN |
We need to create a place to post this kind of thing. Although mine wasn't stolen, my daughter left it at a friends house and it never returned home...they said that they had never seen it. It was made for my daughter when she was about 14, and she is now in her 40's, so it has been gone a long time. It is pictured on the left and I would love to have it back. Hope you have luck finding yours....
Thank you ALL so much for your kind words, I will post an ad on CL and contact a few sources you have mentioned...Quilter's are the best!!! Thank you for giving me some hope of seeing it again.
So sorry to hear that, especially since it was made from your GMothers clothes. Sure hope you get it back.Who knows it may be seen in another state if someone is traveling or tries to sell it. We all need to keep our eyes open at thrift shops and garage sales. Keep us informed!!
I am so sorry this happened to you.
If the quilt was on the bed, they did not even see the true value. They probably used it to gather up all your other items taken from your home. We had the same thing happen at our house. numerous guys came in according to the police. They through things on sheets and stuffed pillow cases with our jewelry, cameras, cash, antiques etc. The reason we know this is becuase thank God, one of them dropped a pillowcase with our wedding rings and other jewelry it in as they ran from the house. My hear goes out to you. Just an FYI take your time replacing any stolen items. Our theives tried a second break in a few months later. Our neighbor stopped the breakin. The police told us not to replace any of our things for a while and do not place boxes of newly purchased electronics etc on the curb with the trash. They said to break the boxes down and put them in the trash bags or take them to a recycle center. Best wishes coming your way Diana |

I'm so sorry to hear about your quilt!

I'm so sorry, how awful. Keep an eye on craigslist, e-bay and check with local pawn shops. I hope it comes home to you soon.
ouch! so sorry to hear that. It held a lot of memories. You can only hope that it is being used and loved.. :?
Oh God bless you ... my eyes will be open for you. You may want to check the goodwills, thrift shops, yard sales and flea markets as well. put up a picture and different places. My home was broken in to a few years ago and of all things they took my jewelry box that had my daughters baby teeth, a broken watch my brother had given me and several other odd things, but they meant so much to me. Hope you find your quilt.
I am so sorry. I lost several quilts when a family member got a little too aggressive in cleaning and accidentally threw the tub they were stored in as trash. By the time I discovered they were missing they were long gone. I still grieve for them.
I am in northwest OK and I will be on the lookout. Have considered calling Hope Outreach and Park Avenue Thrift in Enid and asking them to be on the lookout, too. I so hope you get it back! |
I hope you get it back - so sorry to hear of your loss
