Stolen quilts and items in Kentucky

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet? On Feb 29th Patsy Thompson's car was broken into and quilts, quilt tops, machines and many other quilting items were stolen. You can check http://www.patsythompsondesigns.com/.../archives/3505 for information and pictures. Maybe if everyone has their eyes open wide we can help find them and return them to her?? :(

I just posted over there that it might come in handy to know WHERE the quilts were stolen. Kentucky is miles and miles from one end to the other. And the quilts might have been taken to a town across state lines-----IF WE KNEW WHERE TO LOOK.

Wouldn't it be karma if the thief's house or car was scattered around in the recent storms and someone finds the quilts in a field?

I am not a violent person but that makes me want to smack them! Only other quilter's fully understand the pain of losing quilts that you've poured your time and effort into. I won't mention the financial aspect because although that hurts too, it's not as devastating as the work lost.

valsma 03-04-2012 11:35 AM

That is a terrible shame. I hope if not her machine at least the quilt tops will be found and returned to her. That stuff makes me so angry. One reason I leave nothing of value in my truck, physical or emotional.

luvstoquilt 03-04-2012 02:17 PM

OMG! How tragic...all of that beautiful work...my heart goes out. I made copies and will keep an eye on e-bay.

Corbin is only about 15-20 miles from where 5 people were killed in KY when the storms passed through.

Nanaquilts44 03-04-2012 03:33 PM

So sorry to hear about this awful theft. I hope they are recovered soon. And God bless the people in the area who are going through recovery from these awful storms.

Ginaky 03-04-2012 03:43 PM

Corbin is in south Kentucky, right on I-75. It's about an hour south of me.

Jingle 03-04-2012 07:42 PM

What a shame, thieves are very low people, easier for them to steal than work for something. They could have watched her load her car and then walk away. I would like to smack them also.

seam-ripper-sue 03-04-2012 07:55 PM

Corbin is only about 5 minutes from where I live, and I would just about state for a fact that these things were stolen for drug money. There are a lot of flea markets around here and I will keep my eyes open for her quilts as I cruise yard sales and the flea markets. Makes me almost sick to my stomach that people are so low-life to steal something so beautiful and knowing that they do not apprecite it.

materialworld 03-04-2012 08:07 PM

Unbelievable! I'm so sad for her.

JJean 03-04-2012 09:38 PM

Heartbreaking! I hope she gets them back!

jeaninmaine 03-05-2012 04:28 AM

What a shame, her quilts are to die for. I love her video on spray basting a quilt and those she did on machine quilting, she is such a very talented lady and so generous to have put up free videos to show the rest of us her techniques. It's really sad when someone steals something like quilts when they know the quilter has put so much time and effort and imagination into them.

Dizzy Dolly 03-05-2012 04:44 AM

Keep an eyes on Western Ky Craiglists and penny pinchers magx, Whoever low enough to this is a dirtbag in my book ...I sure hope they come up Miss Pasty nothing worst than a thief and liar ... Will keep an eye out at fleamarkets and yards sales and for sale in the forums

polly13 03-05-2012 05:26 AM

I get so upset when one's life is invaded like this. I have too much trust in people and then read something like this. I hope to read of the success in locating them.

KarenR 03-05-2012 05:55 AM

Hope they find the items and catch the thiefs.

GammaLou 03-05-2012 06:16 AM

I doubt I'll see any of them up here, but I'll keep my eyes open. We are having a couple of quilt shows locally end of summer and the thief may be dumb enough to be there!!

Lavada 03-05-2012 06:28 AM

Me too i hate thives and liars hope you get your things back

3TreeFrog 03-05-2012 07:23 AM

I hope you can find each and every thing that was stolen, along with the thief or thieves. I can't stand it when people steal, lie or cheat! I hope they get what they deserve!

bunbytes 03-05-2012 09:18 AM

How awful! All that work and love and care, plus the equipment. Pox on the thief!

LadyElisabeth 03-05-2012 09:33 AM

I do live in Oregon, but we will keep a look out even this far away.

Momma_K 03-05-2012 09:35 AM

There are names for people like that!! I won't post it here but it's just terrible poor women work so hard and most of us have arthritis and hurt so much but keep going and going only for some jerk to take away dreams, someones smiles, turned into broken hearts. I pray she gets her things recovered!

anniesews 03-05-2012 11:19 AM

So sorry for her. Must have been heartbreaking.

memereof8 03-05-2012 12:00 PM

I get so upset when I hear that someone invades our private property. This whole society has its head screwed on backwards. The new saying is so true "what's yours is mine". Nope they don't have to work for anything--just keep taking. Anyone caught stealing should be sent to areas in our country that have been hit with disasters and make them work, work and work. I am becoming hard--no more sympathy or feeling bad because of their background. No way. We all work very hard for what we have!!!!

ccthomas 03-05-2012 12:05 PM

I hate to hear this. Her work is so beautiful. Kentucky is a beautiful state and there are many beautiful souls in Kentucky. Let's hope and pray someone can help in returning these quilts.

Pam Riggs 03-05-2012 12:25 PM

That part of Kentucky got hit hard by the tornadoes. I am in central KY, but will keep my eyes open for your beautiful quilts. I am so sorry. You are probably right - selling your machines will buy a lot of drugs. Sorry SOBs!!!

Merivale 03-05-2012 01:35 PM

This is the worst news. Perhaps a tattoo across the theives forehead reading thief. I am so sorry this has happened and hope that some of the quilts are returned.

Just posted this on my facebook page so I hope the news gets around and the Thieves get caught...May they never sleep with a handmade Quilt to cuddle..may every blanket they have make them itch....:D

craftymatt2 03-05-2012 06:29 PM

I would like to kick their butts to high heaven, how awful and mean. I will prayer for a swift return.

nstitches4u 03-05-2012 07:39 PM

That is so sad. She put so much love and hard work into those quilts. The person who stole them has no consideration for anyone or anything. I hope the quilts are returned to her.

I saw that when I looked up Corbin

Grandma Peg 03-05-2012 08:37 PM

So sad, hope they somehow turn up.

breezyquilts 03-05-2012 09:01 PM

It would be so awesome if some of her things surface. We can hope!!

hoppa 03-06-2012 06:28 AM

What a tragic shame that they would steal something that means nothing to them. Bad enought to steal the machine,

gramarraine 03-06-2012 06:37 AM

We can only begin to imagine her pain of loosing her quilts unless we have had quilts stolen also. I had one stolen once and was very angry that someone would steel my quilt. I am so sorry for her lose.

Rose_P 03-06-2012 09:46 AM

I have appreciated and learned from Ms. Thompson's videos. It's almost as if this happened to someone I know! I hope everything will be recovered soon and in perfect condition.

karate lady 03-06-2012 09:54 AM

As VALSMA says, I never ever leave anything I do not want to lose in my car. ONe of my DIL lost purse and I asked her why it was not in the house. I can see though with the amount of things taken with the car she was probably at a show or something and it may not have been fesible to remove everything. So sorry for lyour loss. fI do hope they find at least the quilts...Have you posted any signs in that area???
