Very neat idea and recycling at the same time.

What a great idea. Could put them through the dishwasher I suppose as the garlic sure sticks around. This forum is full of such innovative people.

You're making a lot of BIAS binding? I only use bias binding for curved edges. Handle gently.

Great idea!! I have the Simplicity bias machine and have a bin full of made binding. I have to rummage to find the color I want and it's hard keeping it together when wound up. We like hommus a lot so I buy the biggest container. Now I'll just by more of the smaller size. I'm excited, the hommus is now the bonus that comes with the container. LOL

Just out of curiosity, why do you make up binding ahead of time? Do you have a specific project in mind for it?

Re the question as to why I'm making up binding ahead of time, I sometimes run across fabric that I think would look wonderful as a binding. I particularly like diagonal lines on a binding so when I run across a stripey fabric that's what I use it for. I buy 1 yard, which nets 15 yards of 2.5". This particular fabric is a big-scale pink/fuschia/orange plaid which I thought would look nice cut on the bias and put onto a quilt for a baby girl.

Oh my I usually just wrap the remaining binding around toilet paper rolls (often have several different ones on the roll) or old medicine bottles and safety pin the end but this is much prettier!

Wonderful idea. I will have to get some hummus the next time I'm at the store. Love the stuff. Just shouldn't be eating the bread I smear it on.
