I got the idea from another member here on QB. But I've started to use cd-storage furniture. These ones are IKEAs (Benno) that I've found used online for a fair price.

I have the Antonius system from IKEA. I put 2 together, one on top of the other, in my closet. I have another under my embroidery machine table.
Not sure if they still have the Antonius, but they have something like it. Wire baskets, so I can see what is in the drawers - drawers that pull out easily - no rusting. |

Most of mine is in a china cabinet. I love it. It stays clean and it is easy to find what I need. I bought a dresser to use as my big ironing board. My fat quarters kits are store there.

I do a mix of totes and stacks in my closet and sort by color. Larger backing fabrics are kept in a dresser. |
A lot of good ideas here. I really like the china cabinet idea. I prefer something enclosing the fabric as opposed to being out in the open just because of dust, etc. A closet or armoire with shelves, plastic totes etc, are all good ideas.
If you get a lot of sun in your sewing room I would suggest storage that is not see-thru so your fabric doesn't fade. Rodney |

Smaller pieces and fat quarters are folded and in large but fairly flat plastic storage totes.

I have had numerous storage options over the last 12 years. I have finally settled on wrapping my fabric on foam core boards and putting them on shelves.

Others will disagree but I like plastic bins where I can see fabric. Some fabric just sits on shelving and in stacks, it just gets dusty and needs a good shaking out before I use it. I generally wash fabric before adding it to stash.

I use and old china cabinet and fold and stack the fabric in piles by color. Smaller pieces like fat quarters I have in lidded plastic boxes.
