Below is what Quilt Pro came up with based on 16" blocks set 3 across & 4 down.

there's more motion there than I'd have thought. I prefer the single rather than the double. Waves better.

IMO, a Storm at Sea should only be dark blue, med/light blue and white!

Thanks GrannieAnnie, I'll keep the blue color scheme in mind. Making it scrappy would give variety, without going out of the blues.

Oops! Here you go. It didn't change the fabric requirements by much.

There was a quilt at Paducah one year that used the single sash style and was done in yellows, reds & oranges flowing across the quilt. Firestorm or Heat Wave or something like that was its name. I've also seen it done scrappy, purples, blues, greens and a striking black/white/red. If I ever get around to it myself, I plan to paper piece it and use blues & purples.

Thank you BK. You are a dear!

Wow! I found templates for this quilt at a thrift store for 50 cents. My template set makes a 12" block. Will have to try one one of these days. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

You know, if I'd written that remark, it would have been jerked off the board immediately.

For this one block, I have to go with the traditional. The sea when it's rolling is blues and whites, maybe grays.
