Storm victims
Just curious if there are any groups or guilds making quilts for people affected by the storms last weekend. I’d be happy to make tops and send them on for quilting.

Is any QB member in that area?

Many quilt groups on Facebook have posted about guilds and churches close to damaged areas that will be arranging for gifting later on. Most need more essential items now.

Give money to relief agencies already on the ground to buy supplies.

As others have pointed out - basic supplies are in desperate need and the response agencies have specific needs lists. It's best to follow them.
In the spring of 2020, when tornadoes hit the Nashville area, there was actually a notice from one of the response groups that items not on their list, such as quilts, can end up in the landfill since the immediate need is for basic supplies and the agencies do not have ability to store and distribute items that aren't on the request list. The qualification statement was "if not requested", meaning if the agency hasn't specifically asked for them, they often cannot take and distribute them. |
I would think quilts would be about the last thing they would need. Many no longer have a place to live and other very essential items.

I heard on the news last night that "blankets" were in high demand with winter coming on. In a emergency such as this wouldn't a quilt work also? Just wondering....
|
If "blankets" are needed, I would think they would be on the supply listed wanted? Of course quilts make wonderful blankets! Actually lot of folks really call them one and the same!

Isn't there a state list and perhaps the town???

This link came from Alex Anderson's Quilt Show. https://www.hancocks-paducah.com/tornado-recovery
