Kids won't eat broccoli. Okay, I'm ducking all the tomatoes you guys are throwing at me... :) |

I did my String X quilt without foundation piecing, but I made the width wider than I wanted and then trimmed them up to be straight. I wasn't overly concerned that the horizontal seams were exact, but they stayed pretty even anyway.
Not all my strips started the same length although most were semi-consistent in width. |
Love strip quilts. Made a Buggy Barn churn dash out of homespun and then used all the strips for a foundation strip quilt. One of the best I have ever made. Love it.

Please, please show us this when you are finished. It will be lovely, I'm sure.

Couldn't you sew the burgundy strip at any angle using a stitch and flip method before you cut the block? Wouldn't that give it stability? Just a thought.

Well, the machine I was using won't be back here for about a week. Foo. So, you'll all have to live in suspense for a little while longer.
