I'm loving looking at all these wonderful string quilts!

Quilting Nonnie - what is a leader -ender? I went to the Bonnie HUnter link & see she has a book of the same title but I didn't see any explanation as to what it means. I also saw her Bali Batik tour in August 2012 - oh, I wish!

Here's mine. I did this as a "leader-ender" quilt. It took a couple of years that way, but it is king-size. I love doing quilts as leader enders! You are making two quilts at a time. The picture doesn't show it quilted, but I'm about 3/4 of the way done handquilting in the center lavender squares.

Right now I'm working on a spider web string quilt. I found this pattern, and there are lots more, at Bonnie Hunter's website: http://quiltville.com/ You can check out her free scrap and string quilt patterns in column on left of page. She also has a great scrap savers system that I use. If you look in her post, you'll see the words Scrap Savers System highlighted in blue. Click on it and it will take you there!

Just lovely, Girls. I too would like to see more pics of these since I make mostly scrap quilts.

Have you looked at the scrap quilt thread? It's got some fabulous scrappies!

Beautiful quilts - I love string quilts. I've posted this one before - it is the bottom photo - the only string I've ever made all on my own all though I've participated in "group" string quilts. Here's the link to mine:http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...k-t178438.html

It's so bright & cheerful! And for such a fabulous cause to boot! Thanks for sharing it with us!

No. I have done many many this way. In a class on Craftsy I learned that some folks press the seams open when sewing the blocks together. I am trying one that way right now.

I'm a weird-o. I press all my seams open. I find it helps with the bulk. Have you found that, too?

I was really pleased with this one and the triangles were really easy to line up in columns.

This is spectacular! I love the way it looks like braids! And the applique is fabulous!

It's wonderful! It looks like sherbet strings! I'll bet they love it, too!
