Google Quilt strip patterns free and have a blast, It helped me more than once.

Anything yellow, red, or tans will bring out the orange more than the orange itself. Try making a string quilt with solid black and black background printed with no orange in it with a third color not in the orange range possibly pale green, nothing bright and use the orange sparingly. If you would be interested in a swap, I'll be happy to work with you on the color combinations.

A bright blue, or a deep purple would be great with orange!
