I recently bought 30's fabrics for a bowtie quilt. I saw one at A Stitch in Time in Franklin, NC, and loved it. It looked SO vintage.

I am working on a Dear Jane with mine. My background is a very white white. Am loving it.

I have lots of quilt squares that were made from 30's fabrics that I would like to sell.

Squares are 36-8 point stars, 20-flower garden, and approximately 46 -16 point smaller stars with big yellow centers, and dutch girl. The squares were done but not put together. I have more than I can use.

Please email me if anyone is interested in purchasing them.

I will post pictures if anyone is interested.

I love the 30's prints too. I seem to gravitate towards ones with lots of white background in them.

sorry for the double post

My GFG is out of 30's fabrics too!

Lyncat, I saw a Vintage quilt of butterflies that I thought I'd duplicate with my 30's fabrics. Eiltcoq.

Hi Eiltcoq, where did you see the butterfly quilt? Do you have the pattern or know where I can get it? One of my favorite things is butterflies and would love to try it also with the 30's fabric.
Whatever you call people that love old things (maybe nostalgic), I am one of them

Dresden plates and fans are good....you might check out Darcy Ashton's cat books

I am also looking for something to do with mine. I do have the egg money book, I'm thinking maybe a sampler quilt. There are some really cute blocks in the egg money, I really like the sea shell and the butterfly in that book. We shall see, I've had the stack of fabrics for a while now, I guess I'll play with them some more. Nothing has jumped out at me yet.

LeeAnn, your quilts are gorgeous - those dresses are just adorable!

This is a crib quilt I made when I was first starting to get the hang of free-motion quilting without marking, so don't look at the wobbles.

I like the strips of flying geese because they're versatile and give you lots of options for quilting different designs. If you make the strips between them wide enough, you can applique vines and flowers on them - I know I've seen a pattern for this on the web, but I can't find it now.

there's a really neat thing my mom makes for the body of the butterfly to make it 3d that is cool.---------maybe back to the egg money.

KimS 11-02-2011 05:02 PM

I'm doing this one right now in 30's prints. http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...ulip_quilt.htm

mamaw 11-02-2011 05:11 PM

I have even seen a lovely one in a local quilt shop that is 9-patches alternating with snowball blocks. I really like the simplicity of it. Don't think you can make a bad 30's quilt lol.

wishfulthinking 11-04-2011 06:54 AM

Here's a link to the one I made: http://thingsthatarenotperfect.blogs...-my-entry.html

Beautiful! I love those 30s prints too.

smcfadden 11-04-2011 07:19 AM

Here's a site that has free quilt designs for 30s prints: http://www.starflowerfabrics.com/free_patterns_.html

There's also Sunbonnet Sue and many others.

misseva 11-04-2011 08:45 AM

Now there you go, making me drool - I surely need to get my BOM done so I can start something new.

sherian 11-04-2011 06:48 PM

I have to say they are wonderful, I did see a book in Joann's today about the 30's quilts, maybe I should have bought it. You really have talent.

jaciqltznok 11-04-2011 06:54 PM

SAMPLER for sure....that is what the 30's were all about..making do...and nothing was organized...you just put fabric were it would fit!

teddysmom 11-07-2011 03:53 AM

I'm getting ready to make a Vintage Churn Dash quilt. Google it and you can download the pattern.

Eloise 11-07-2011 03:58 AM

How about "Grandma's Garden"? It is a lot of hand sewing and something that you can pick up and do without worry. It is a beautiful quilt! Good luck!

mzzzquilts 11-07-2011 04:02 AM

Dresden Plate is a good one for 30's fabric.

Twin Sisters is easy to do with reproduction fabrics.

romanojg 11-09-2011 07:17 AM

I've got two applique quilts (making flower blocks) going using the 30's prints and another one finished. It's a great print for either something you don't want to go bold colors with and it has alot of small prints so it's great for applique.

luvstoquilt 11-09-2011 07:22 AM

I love the '30's quilts and especially like books by Zimmerman.

mhansen6 11-09-2011 07:24 AM

Here is the link to the 30's sampler that I did and Charisma quilted. I had so much fun picking out all the different blocks.

Here is a link to a blog showing up close pictures of a Ode to the 1930's quilt. It gives you an idea of all the different patterns. I am very partial to Sun Bonnet Sue and Sam quilts in 1930. I think I like all except patterns that have very large pieces. Teh smaller scale lends itself well to smaller pieces.

This is so beautiful and you gave it such wonderful details! Bravo....

I love yours, too! Thanks for the inspiration.

Gladys 01-20-2013 03:03 PM

I vote for Dresden plates. I love those 30's prints in a Dresden Plate quilt.

Jerseyrayne 01-20-2013 07:58 PM

Here is a free pattern from Windham Fabrics that I plan to make. http://www.windhamfabrics.net/images..._of_posies.pdf

And my Avatar is a 30s quilt

Jerseyrayne 01-20-2013 08:05 PM

Windham Fabrics also has quite a few free patterns for the 30s or that could be used with the 30s fabrics. I have downloaded 6 of them already. Good Luck with your choice. I love the 30s fabrics
