This pretty as a picture quilt needs framing. What about using a 1 1/2" inner border of that dark purple pebbley squares fabric you are using first? That would give it a hint of movement in and out of the quilt where those on point hit just before the corners. Then a 2 1/2 - 3" final border of the tiny golden diagonal stuff if you have enough of that, turquoise if not.

I agree with the idea of a dark blue border. Your beautiful quilt deserves a frame.
Pretty little quilt just as it is. If you feel you need to make it larger with borders, pull a color from the quilt and use either a solid or a gentle print. If you plan to use two borders, I would use a solid one first to break up the busy from your beautiful center
I think that I would just bind it in the dark blue. It is lovely the way it is. Good luck!

I would do two borders, first the pale yellow, then he darker blue.
So pretty! The teal green on either side of the red diamonds looks like the least used color in the quilt. I think it would make a great color for borders.
I would bind it with the teal/turquoise color seen four rows in from the edge, and not add any additional borders. Very pretty!
I like it without another border. Beautiful quilt!!!
It is a very lovely quilt. If you have any leftover fabric, I would auditions the fabrics that have been mentioned. I always enjoyed taking a top into my favorite quilt shop and having their employees help me pick out the borders. Other customers would also give their opinion. Good Luck !!
Beautiful Quilt! It looks finished to me - all it needs is quilting.
I agree....couldn't say it better!!!
Maybe the green marbled looking fabric, in a 4 inch border....depending on how large the quilt is. It would repeat the green and be a nice contrast with the red and gray. I'd either do that or use the dark brown/black (?) print that you've used in the large squares.
Gorgeous quilt !
Beautiful Quilt. I would just bind it. But if you have to put border, plain dark blue, but not navy blue.
I think a dark border is in order, and by the way, your quilt is gorgeous!

I, too, would use the dark blue. I think it would create a nice frame around the quilt and would allow the quilt blocks to pop. I believe I'd use the same dark blue for the binding. There's a lot of brightness and movement in the quilt top and dark blue would be a nice contrast.
I would just put a binding of the dark blue on the quilt, any other boarder would just take away from the quilt itself(like adding borders to make the quilt bigger but not enhance the look of the quilt).
I think it's perfect just the way it is...I wouldn't add a thing. Beautiful quilt, I'd love to buy a raffle ticket.
I agree with others suggesting to bind it as is and let your wonderful colors work. If you need it to be larger, then I agree with the others suggesting the dark border. I am certain many tickets will be purchased for the chance to have this beauty.
Beautiful top!!
I agree that adark plain border would be best. |
I agree bind it as is

thanks for all your suggestions since i had none of the fabric in the quilt left i decided to go with plain borders except for the corners and use batiks that would blend what do you think this made the quilt around 88x88
Wow this looks great but it looks finished to me. Other than a border to frame it I think your good to go

Gorgeous quilt top! |
The quilt is beautiful, however I think the batiks are too grayed for the body of the quilt. I like rectangle quilts and like the suggestion of ??? adding a star block border to the top and bottom. just my $0.02
Your batiks are very pretty. The more I look at it the better I like it. I really like the dark blue and pink that KarenK showed. However, I am in love with contrasts. Now, I believe that one must see this quilt top in person (like in real life) to honestly make a good assessment. And, since you are designing this, I suggest you follow your instincts to make it totally yours. Just trust in your good judgement.
That is a lovely quilt. I like the dark fabric for the border also
Very pretty quilt. It has a lot going on. I would add a simple plain border where the eye can rest.
Good luck with the raffle. |

love your quilt and I think a dark blue border would set it off perfectly. Can I buy a ticket?
It looks great!

How about the turquoise? The navy and reds are too much a part of the design to use them, IMO. |
I think the marbled greyed batiks belong to a different quilt.
I may be late to the party - I hope not - one of the center blocks is set wrong. It is a nine patch on the right top in the last picture posted with the borders. The blue diagonal is running opposite the other 3 blocks. Unless it is a design decision.
I'm with others on here. Bind it! I think that doing otherwise would ruin the effect. This quilt is beautiful as is.
I think it would look good if you mimicked the green stripe, then the yellow stripe with red diamonds and then green stripe again. You could bind it with the red to complete the mimicking. It great so far.
