Summer Challenge to myself! Scraps meet the Long Arm :) What about you?

Each summer I chose a pattern outside my comfort zone and try to hone the skills involved. However, this summer I will be using my vast collection of scraps (six totes full) to make a variety of scrappy quilts - two finished already!. I will then practice on my new long arm using the scrappy quilts. I am sure I will find some happy homes for the quilts. What is your next challenge?

Sounds like fun! I love scrappy quilts!

I have a house guest coming to spend the month of July in my guest room (a.k.a. sewing room). I've been piecing tops to quilt on my frame (in a different room) for that month! Hoping I can get 6-8 done!

Also...I bought the book 'Crafted Applique'. https://smile.amazon.com/Crafted-App...afted+applique I really want to try this technique with a Halloween design! That's my August project when I'll be visiting my Mom.

I always have a challenge to myself--this summer is to make a quilt with scalloped borders--it's on the long arm right now and has to get finished in next couple of weeks for a silent auction--and it's been a bit of a challenge!

I just finished my challenge for the summer. It was PP pattern of leaves made mostly from 2" squares, HST and QST. Instruction were poor and I drew the PP blocks on EQ7. I just need to press the three sections, then stitch them, add a 2" border and make the scrappy binding.

this year I'm doing the 365 block challenge. I've been learning a lot about basic block construction that I didn't know before. I do want to start dealing with curves. I've sewn plenty of clothing/craft projects so I know technique, but so far I've not done a quilt with them.

My next challenge is the Hunter's Star. I haven't decided whether to spring for Deb Tucker's ruler or go with the Missouri star pattern. It will be in red/blue so that's a challenge in itself.

Good for you! I did an around the world wall quilt that was Halloween themed when I started quilting. I gifted it to a g/f who likes Halloween more than Christmas :)
