The finished size should be about 44 x 55 after the borders are on.

That is what I am aiming for. Now need to get off the computer and start sewing.

Top is done, border fabrics cut. Perhaps tomorrow is the finish day. FYI, my top without borders measures 34 1/2" x 46". It took me longer than expected because when it was almost done and on the design wall I noticed something was wrong. I had sewn one block in the set incorrectly. So, Jack (AKA the ripper) and I spent some time together fixing the problem.

Nice job, Carolyn!

LOL It does make for a long day BUT the thrill of having it done in a day is worth it :) did you show it off at work ?

Margaret B 02-06-2012 06:07 PM

Yes. Everyone liked it. One girl thought we were hand quilting. lol I was like "are you crazy". You can't quilt that in one day by hand. lol

Top is finished, whooo hoooo! Well almost, I may add a larger black border to increase the size.

Tango the Quilt Inspector finally got around to checking the top out and Lonesome the Labrador agrees that a black border should be considered. I wish we had some sunlight today so the colors would pop.

I agree with Tango And Lonesome.....a beautiful job, worth keeping. And, the colors do pop. Lovely! Thanks for showing us.

Beautiful quilt and furbabies! Great job.

I forgot to add that the quilt top measured 44 1/2" x 55".

nice job caroline! i too would need to make the quilt larger as i am 5'8" and few in my family that i still need to make quilts for are shorter than i. please post when you get your extra border on. i would like to see what it looks like.

i was thinking of making a smaller version of the blocks (tilted) as an additional border. i like the pattern as it does not look like a traditional log cabin block quilt and it can be for a male or female.

I just posted my finished quilt in the pictures area :)
Here is a link to it. I didn't think I should double post pictures. fabriclover - thank you so much for your generosity and time pulling this together. I wish I was able to finish the top sooner. Life just got in the way.

Let me know if you want me to do the feedback that you originally asked for. I'm not sure if it's too late or not.

I love your finished quilt and I hope others will post as they finish theirs as well.
Yes, the feed back would be wonderful as I am working on the next one . Blue Skies and all the feedback I can get would be wonderful.
Also I have redone my site and the clues are now back up on the web for download for anyone that wants them.

Susan,

Just found this post today. It took me a while to find the thread after seeing the photo posted on another thread. I went to the site you indicated and downloaded the clues. It says it is a pdf, but downloads as a MHTML and when I try to print it it cuts it off and doesn't print more than the first two or three sentences. There is a symbol to the left of the clue showing Adobe and I tried clicking on that but nothing happens. Any clues as to what I may be doing wrong would be appreciated. I certainly will be more watchful around Memorial Day -- just in case you do another one. and will definitely watch for the Labor Day One.

Yes, I am doing two more this year. I am working on one for April 14 & 15 called Blue Skies and then another one for Labor Day weekend that is yet to be named.
The way you download the clues is to click on the down arrow on the right of the line you want. If you just click on the name, it will download just what you are describing, that one is just for viewing on the web.

Do you have a finished quilt top from this mystery? I would love to see it! I am gathering pictures and I am gong to be posting them to my web site for everyone to see our wonderful results. If you want yours on the page as well, please send me a snapshot and I will get it up there for all to see!

mcdaniel023 04-14-2012 09:42 AM

I had a couple of friends over. One is a quilter. I showed her my top and she LOVED it. It is now on top of the to be quilted pile. My camara is not cooperating. Sorry.
