I use something similar and wouldn't be without it. It is a glass suction cup from Harbor Freight. The kind used to pick up panes of glass. I sliced the whole side of my finger off late one night and have used these suction cups since. My fingers are no where near the blade now.

I need one for my bathtub too. Good idea

I have just ordered one today as I have big problems with my left thumb when it is flat on ruler so thought one of these might be easier to handle.

I will not cut without it attached to my ruler. I was always so afraid of slicing off fingertips - now I can relax.

I really love mine, especially when I have long strips to cut. Like anything new, it takes practice to find the way it's most comfortable for you.

The ones in the quilt shops are quite expensive. The one made for the tub is the same thing and a lot cheaper.

Be careful , don't depend too much on this getting out of the tub. Even though they say it won't slip, believe me it can

I like mine.

I recently purchased this really long ruler that is only 4 inches wide and it is the full width of my cutting table. It has an edge on one end that allows it to grasp the edge of my table; I then pull it tight to that edge and then I have no problem holding down the ruler with one hand while cutting the fabric. It has saved me so much time. Love it.
