Supreme Slider Free Motion Machine Quilting Mat
 

Has anyone ever used the Supreme Slider Free Motion Machine Quilting Mat? I've seen it mentioned on a few different free motion quilting instructional sites. Users claim it makes for easier movement of the quilt while free motion quilting on your home machine. A queen size costs about $46.00. If anyone has used this I would appreciate your thoughts.

I used it and it worked well. Some have had problems with it shifting so they tape it down. I rinsed mine occasionally according the instructions and didn't have that problem. Don't use the domestic machine for FMQ anymore since I recently got a Sweet Sixteen.

There's actually a giant size one now available for midarms . . .i have one on my Babylock Tiara because I don't think the optional mat I bought gives enough "slide" . . .its about $150 but worth every penny.

I have the queensize to use with my DSM, and actually ruined my first one when I sewed thru it . . .but wouldn't want to be without it.

I gave up on mine. Didn't seem to help. Use the search function above. I just put in supreme slider and there are a bunch of threads where we discussed this.

I use the large size also. I do use painters tape on mine...not around the entire thing but basically on the corners. It really helps and is well worth the effort to remove the front part to change the bobbin. Another reason to just put tape on small areas. After a couple of uses I do rinse off the underside with water so it keeps clean to hold in place. I thought it was expensive but I like it. It is still important for there not to be a lot of drag on your quilts. I have a recessed machine in a large Horn table but I still bunch up my quilt top around my machine. Hope this helps

It does seem to help some. I have the standard size on my Bernina. It's the same size as my extension table. It doesn't help nearly as much as the Machinger's gloves so if you don't have those (or something similar that is grippy), I would invest in grips first.

I have the large size and love it. Recently I forgot to use it. I had been sewing, then switched to FMQ. Wondering why there was a drag. It does make a difference. Do not use with SID. Ask me how I know. Had to cut the opening bigger.😒. I also bought a pack of gardening gloves at Costco. The kind that has the rubber coating on the palm side. Costs about $8 for many pairs. I cut off the tips on the thumb and next two fingers. Works great for FMQ.

I use one. I've never had it move on me and I don't tape it down. I rinse it in tap water and let dry and that brings back the adhesive if not sticking. I keep it on my Brother 1500 all the time. I like it.

Since I got my Bernina in the 90s setting into a Singer desk with a huge L shape table top that I made out of wood, I never needed anything else for doing FMQ. If you are not battling the weight of the quilt having proper support for the quilt, one should have no problem with FMQ.

I use one. I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago. I love it.

I "roller it" (lint roller) when it gets unsticky due to a lot of threads, etc. It works well.
