You will have a LOT of fun with this machine :D:D:D
I picked up all of my threads on ebay, stabilizers at Walmart and Joann's mainly, by the yard, gotta love those 50% off coupons

Nancy Zieman has a book out with great tips on machine embroidery.

http://emblibrary.com has great designs, very reasonable too. Join the birthday and christmas club and sign up for their newsletter to get great specials too :D:D:D

I have that machine and just love it. You will want to get the PED basic so you can download some of the thousands of free designs off the internet. If you go to search and type in ME designs you will get a huge list. I use the $1.99 cones from Joanns on mine and it sews great! I use bottom line thread in the bobbin, it lasts so much longer. Have fun with your mistake!! You can PM me if you have questions.

Congratulations on your new toy! Don't forget, you CAN use regular thread to practice your designs with. The thread just isn't quite as thick or shiney. Don't think you HAVE to buy Emb. thread.

I would think about what type of items I want to embroider and I would buy thread to begin according to that. For example when I began I embroidered a baby quilt with the cutest aligators so I purchased colors I would use on that project. Then I just purchased along the way the colors I wanted. You can also find sets that woulod have a mixture of colors, and sometimes for really good prices.

I have so far purchased two spools of ME thread, I see no difference in the finished design with the cheap thread. I use what I have on hand, it seems to work just fine!! Limited budgets call for creative minds!

Donna, I was looking at the SE 350 on Ebay and saw a 4 x6 hoop that is supposed to fit that machine. I thought the embroidery field is 4 x 4. Do you know if the 4 x 6 hoop will work? TIA

I am not sure but it looks like it would. I have thought about that too but so far 4x4 has been big enough for all I do!!

Just wanted to let you know I have a Brother embroider for 12 years and love it. It is much more simple than you think, you won't have any problem with it. I use Maderia 40 wgt.rayon on mine and this works great.I found the Maderia on sale at the Thread Store. You get 5500mm for 6.00 dollars. I bought 5 spools and it really works well.

This is a pretty good site for lots of sewing/embroidery supplies. Sometimes they have unbelievable sales on thread packages: http://www.shoppersrule.com/
