Yes, great advice! I now do check all my items days before I leave especially since the retreat I attend is more than 2 hours from home.

Trust me nothing is more frustrating than getting to a class or retreat and find you left your machine power cord or pedal control at home! I also take my manual (just in case), and the little case that holds the feet, screwdriver, etc. you just never know.

I don't take my computerized sewing machines to classes/retreats as I feel there is more that can be jarred loose in them. Always take my mechanical Elna or Featherweight.

I have a Brother SQ9185 Sewing/Quilting machine, and Brother did not make a carrier for it, and it is too large for a generic one. After looking online for awhile, I just measured my machine (H/W/D), went to Joann's and found a lovely carrier on rollers. It is roomy enough to add a few items I might want (pins, scissors, etc.), too. Even though I don't have to because there are several machines available, I often take it to my quilting group when me meet to make quilts for charity because I like having my own machine.
