Talk to me about thread
What kind of thread do you use on your domestic machine? I have been using Coats and Clark all purpose or dual duty thread, but it seems to get tangled or break easily. Should I get a different kind? Thanks for your help!

I hate Coates and Clark - seems really bad and if it breaks easily, I always feel like it's not going the job in the quilt either. I usually use Gutermann. I have had a lot better luck with that. You can usually get it on sale at Joannes.

I use Gutermann, Essentials (fron connecting threads), Star (from LQS). I like the cotton threads best, I find that polyster thread comes undone while piecing. Hope this helps. Others will most likely give you other brands that they like.

Sometimes it depends on what your machine likes. My Viking likes Aurifil, Wonderfil, Coats & Clark, Gutterman among others. It did not like the Connecting Threads brand. I haven't tried all of them on the Featherweight yet. I usually use Coats & Clark or Aurifil on it without any issues.

I like Essentials from Connecting Threads. I like Coats and Clark too! I have found when it seems to break easily, I change needles!

I use Coats and Clark for regular sewing and for my quilting I use Connecting Threads Cotton in my Bernina 1530. I don't have a problem with threak breaking.

Gutterman.Mettler,Aurifil. Wonderfil. King Tut, Molnlycke, Madeira are all in my stash. All are good to use.I also like Signature and am a bit disappointed that Madeira stopped making Tanne as I especially liked that one.

I use Gutterman, I tried CC and like you it kept breaking on me or created a lot of lint in my machine. I have yet to try CT thread.
