I just love the effect and it sounds like a piece of cake to create the effect. Thank you for sharing this with us and the purses you make a great.

penski 02-04-2011 11:54 AM

a local sewing store has it and one day while i was in there she made a jacket using Texture magic , so i bought some and just played with it on scraps of material , it is neat to watch the material scrunch up

dreamer2009 02-04-2011 11:59 AM

Awesome! I have seen tex magic demo'd and bought some but have never used it...love the look!

NUTMEG10 02-04-2011 01:55 PM

I bought some early last fall and still have not made anything with it. Your pocketbook looks great.

SZQ 02-04-2011 02:02 PM

when made this way are the purses still washable ? :?: :?:

noahscats7 02-04-2011 02:19 PM

Got a question. Do you have to make the piece you put it on larger to allow for shrinkage or just regular pattern size?

DogHouseMom 02-04-2011 02:29 PM

I have some that I was going to use to finish out the Bargello that I re-designed. I thought I could use a whole piece and piece it to the bottom of my bargello, but when I auditioned it I didn't like it. I've still got most of it, will try it somewhere - somehow.

Love the purses that you did!!

carolyne2421 02-04-2011 02:55 PM

Yes, the TM instructions tell you this. You quilt your fabric to the TM (with or without batting for different effects), shrink it, and THEN measure and cut.

And yes, it's washable.

regm 02-04-2011 03:48 PM

I used it on a baby quilt-different textures for touching. Wasn't that satisfied with it. Didn't seem to puff up much but maybe I was doing something wrong. Maybe not enough steam. Will try again. But the stuff is expensive.

IDquilter 02-04-2011 04:10 PM

I have never heard of or seen this stuff before but i like what you have done with the purses.

grammysharon 02-04-2011 04:13 PM

My friend used it on a pocket she made for a vest and it turned out wonderful! Love your purses

Shirlrh 02-04-2011 04:26 PM

How cute.! I will have to try it.

wraez 02-04-2011 04:36 PM

Neena 02-04-2011 05:01 PM

What a great idea to do the flap on the purse! I bought texture magic last fall at a quilt shop but have not used it yet...another snow day project! Thanks!

BabyCakes 02-04-2011 05:11 PM

Yes I have and it is great.Nancy notions carries it.

Jackie R 02-04-2011 05:39 PM

That is a really interesting and cool technique - and I love your purse pattern too.

juneayerza 02-04-2011 05:48 PM

I have the pattern for that same purse, but have not tried it yet. And yes, I have the texture magic too. I really like what you did with the batik. I need to get myself in gear and use this.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I have seen this product in a quilt store mailout I received. Nice to see a better picture of the effect. Your work is beautiful.

It is fun to use. I originally purchased it from the inventor, Annie Unrein. She carries it plus many patterns for purses, laptop carriers, etc. and supplies. www.http://byannie.com
She's affiliated with Superior Threads. Try her web site. Lots of ideas and supplies.
I've made bags, and used it on the wings of the duckies on a child's quilt.

Have been using Texture Magic since last summer. I've used it in purses as well as adding dimension to some sweatshirt jackets. I am going to use in a quilt soon. Yes a little pricey, but you use it in small areas. Did you know you can piece it to make use of all the scraps?

juneayerza 02-05-2011 01:47 PM

When you piece it, do you zig zag the pieces together. Or, is there another way you do it?

juneayerza 02-05-2011 01:47 PM

That was a great use for it on the duck's wings

Gramily 02-05-2011 04:47 PM

These are gorgeous!! What a concept.

Really exceptional on the bags. I've not used it, but you make it tempting

Just straight stitch sewing. The pattern you sew into the fabric is what poofs out when you are finished steaming it. If you sew around a pattern in your material, like the flowers shown, it really enhances the piece.

juneayerza 02-05-2011 08:58 PM

When you have scraps of the texture magic and want to piece them together to use for something, how do you piece it together?
