Has anyone used Textured Magic? I used it for the top of two purses and on a couple of smaller bags... I think its easy and fun to use . Would love to see some of your projects....

Wow! That is neat. How do you do it? The top looks like you follow the outline of the design, but what about the bottom?

sewwhat85 02-03-2011 11:21 AM

i just saw this stuff online today how strange that you posted a use thanks

marilynr 02-03-2011 11:22 AM

The 3-D effect adds a lot to your design.

quiltsillysandi 02-03-2011 11:22 AM

That is so cool....!!

Grama Lehr 02-03-2011 11:22 AM

How did you get it to follow the design on the batik fabric?

Maggiemay 02-03-2011 11:24 AM

Your bags are great- nice use of the texture magic. I saw it at a quilt show being demonstrated a few years ago & thought it was really neat. I wasn't sure what I would do with it, but I like what you have done!

golo8 02-03-2011 11:27 AM

The fabric in the TM package is like a white nylon... you baste it on to the fabric you want to use and then quilt it... I quilted around the butterflies in the first fabric and in the second I just meandered.. the less you quilt the puffer it gets... You just hold a steam iron over it... don't touch the fabric... the steam does all the work.... the bottom of my bags are just the regular fabric.. I didn't do anything to it... very very simple technique and easy to use....

QuiltnCowgirl 02-03-2011 11:28 AM

I love it! And you just gave me the solution to a wall hanging I am designing. Now to find best place to buy Textured Magic...LQS, Hancocks, JoAnns or online?

golo8 02-03-2011 11:30 AM

You will have to post a picture of your wall hanging so we can all see it when it is done.... :)

Tink's Mom 02-03-2011 11:34 AM

I bought Mom a purse made with it last Sept. Isn't it the greatest?
I thing that holds me back from using it...is the price....

Sapphire_Rae 02-03-2011 11:35 AM

Saw a purse in LQS the other day with that look. Was too busy to check out the details of how it was done. Pretty neat. Thanks for posting!!

dixiebelle162002 02-03-2011 11:38 AM

I had never seen or heard of this product before, but it is very cool. Thanks for posting!

amma 02-03-2011 11:39 AM

I love your projects!! :D:D:D
This is fun to play with and so is the thread that shrinks when you put steam to it :D:D:D

Fiber Artist 02-03-2011 12:06 PM

Very nice! :D

Maggie_1963 02-03-2011 02:27 PM

quiltlonger 02-03-2011 02:46 PM

GagaSmith 02-03-2011 06:44 PM

I get mine from Superior Threads on line.

golo8 02-03-2011 08:17 PM

What a cute idea using it for a few items to put in a quilt... another great idea....

lynnsv 02-04-2011 03:34 AM

Ive used it on a couple of cotton purse and then, I got brave and tried it on some faux leather. The leather was very pliable and it came out great! Imagine the possibilities!

FranC 02-04-2011 05:43 AM

Wow? Really neat!!! Did you purchase this product at a quilt shop? May I ask about your purse pattern? Love it!!

fireworkslover 02-04-2011 05:59 AM

Texture Magic was a program at my Guild a few months back. She only stitched cross hatching so I wasn't really impressed with it. I asked what it would look like if you did other kinds of stitching and she didn't know. Now after seeing what you did with the Batik - I like it! This gives me some new ideas. Thanks...

I know it's pricey, but you probably will only use a small area of it as an accent on a purse or wallhanging or whatever.

girlsfour 02-04-2011 06:42 AM

Hancock Fabrics carry it. Might have to ask the clerk where it's located in the store.

Scakes 02-04-2011 06:47 AM

I've never heard of textured magic but love the look! Will have to give it a try. Does it wash out or is it permanent after you've used it? Thanks for posting the pix. The purses are really nice.

Linda Loo 02-04-2011 06:55 AM

I love this stuff! It is expensive but I used it to make a companion "Lovie" to a baby quilt. I put the TM on a piece of minky and a piece of flannel backed satin, and used them on opposite ends of this small sized quilt for baby to sink his fingers into. Everyone loves it! (me too)

golo8 02-04-2011 07:03 AM

Linda, I am going to have to try that....bet it really made the quilt..

I bought my TM at my Local Quilt Store.... along with the purse pattern..

Great Look!! I love your brown purse. Where did you get the pattern? I would love to make one. :)

sculpyfan 02-04-2011 08:15 AM

I have some and tried out a test piece but didn't think about following outlines. I like that so much better than the way mine turned out. Now to just find some material.

morelcabin 02-04-2011 08:21 AM

Wow! Thanks! First time ever hearing about this stuff but I think it is going to become my next favorate product!

Ripped on Scotch 02-04-2011 08:22 AM

I saw this at a shop hop just before christmas. Mom got some for a christmas wallhanging of santa's face. We thought it was perfect for adding texture to his beard. but it is hard to find in Canada. I have to go back to the shop hop ploace and get more of it.

salsalady 02-04-2011 08:35 AM

i made two sundresses and hats turned out very cute dont have pics as gave them to great grandchildren already. it takes alot of thread and takes some time but quite interesting in the end. do have to line it as it is scratchy if you dont. i had fun doing it. i got the pattern for it on sewthankful.com.

LindaR 02-04-2011 08:44 AM

bought some and haven't used it...good idea..

I wasted no time & visited my LQS yesterday after work. Got some there...same price as Superior & don't have to wait for it to get here. I'm going to play with it some tonight :)

What is the name of the purse pattern that you purchased at your LQS? I really like the way it looks and it's size. The texture magic sure does make the flap pop..great idea.

jean knapp 02-04-2011 10:32 AM

I used texture magic to make a ruffle for GD dresses and for pillow shams oh and the ruffle on the curtains Its cheaper and easier that buying a ruffles (which I happen to have) its easier and I think quicker and no mistakes.

I've made a few things with it, mostly purse-related. Here are a couple of pictures of bow tucks variations using Texture Magic (I prefer a purse with a flap to hold stuff in). I generally meander/stipple quilt (rather than straight lines) before the shrinking.

RUSewing 02-04-2011 11:17 AM
