Someone in this group, mentioned they use pinmoor. Yesterday, I placed an order, and I am all ready feeling more relieved that I won't have to use safety pins anymore when putting my quilt together.

Thank you to who ever it was that meantioned pinmoor

DJ 10-26-2010 05:34 AM

Had to google them. They look great.

Quilting Di 10-26-2010 05:59 AM

Thought I had seen all the quilting gadgets out there. These are new to me and I think they would be great. Problem is, what color to order? ;-)

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 10-26-2010 07:04 AM

I've never used the "real" ones but after seeing a video on this a few months ago, I used ear plugs. They worked pretty well. You can get 400 ear plugs from McMaster Carr for around $25.

Hum....I'll have to try...work for an audiologist and we have a case of them!

retired2pa 10-26-2010 07:19 AM

Looks interesting. I think ear plugs would work just the same. My DH has lots of them...think I'll "borrow" a few :)

grammynan 10-26-2010 07:35 AM

I love my pinmoors and use them all the time!

When you use the earplugs, do they fall off? The pinmoors won't come off until pulled off.

np3 10-26-2010 07:38 AM

This looks familiar. Not used this way but on something.....

I have to think about this.

janethagy 10-26-2010 07:46 AM

I have never heard of these... I just went to thier website and checked them out. Looks very interesting, no more getting pricked while your quilting you quilt....
And to think of all the ear plugs I threw away when I flew Air Evac....LOL

grammy Dwynn 10-26-2010 08:09 AM

makes you go hmmmm
oh not to be poked!

EagarBeez 10-26-2010 08:27 AM

How do you use ear plugs?

craftiladi 10-26-2010 09:30 AM

http://pinmoor.com/
hmmm not convinced I need these, interesting idea though.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 10-26-2010 09:44 AM

I've only tried the ear plugs a couple of times. They stayed on pretty well.

As for the question of how to use ear plugs, just stick them on the ends of your pins.

SewExtremeSeams 10-27-2010 05:03 AM

Interesting! :-D

I had never heard of them before your post. Thanks for the info!

Jeanniejo 10-27-2010 05:58 AM

I thought they were very expensive! I'd rather buy fabric with that money and spray baste .

liondenise 10-29-2010 07:48 AM

the pinmoors seemed a bit pricy to me so I used one of my daughters old pool noodles and cut 1/4 inch lices from it and then cut each slice into cubes - works great

EagarBeez 10-29-2010 10:39 AM

novel idea too, have to keep that in mind, if I run out of pinmoors. I just ordered them

cherryberry 10-29-2010 10:44 AM

Hmm, statrted me thinking and looking around for what i have that I can use for that purpose.

"When you have tried all the rest come for the best." This saying really is true for my Pinmoors. I have 5 years of product testing into these. They are really what I claim. They will last forever. I am going to sell the Green very cheep soon. I picked a color that is really not the best. They work as well as any color, so if you are on the fence watch my web site for the Green to go on sale.
Thanks,
Loretta

I was skeptical about them, but they really do hold on to the pins. I put some in the border of the quilt I just started quilting, to see how well they stay on through the quilting process.

The only ear plugs I can think of are the soft, squishy foam thingies that they give you on the flight line or at the range. I tried a pair and they don't hold the pins at all - they pull right off and you might as well baste with straight pins, alone.

But, the Pinmoors stay put. I picked my quilt up off of the table a couple of feet by a Pinmoor.

Connie in CO 01-01-2011 08:18 AM

I just watched the video.I might see what i can find that is foam.

lclang 01-01-2011 03:46 PM

How would packing peanuts work?? Might be worth a try. You can buy a bushel of them for cheap.

Any idea when? I'd love to try these but don't care about the color for now. A sale sounds great.

Pinmoor 01-01-2011 05:21 PM

Right now... The Green is on sale for 50 for 12.00 and 24.00 for 100.
Thanks,
Loretta

gale 01-01-2011 05:40 PM

Thank you. I'm ordering 100 right now. :)

gale 01-01-2011 05:45 PM

After I paid when it tried to go back to the pinmoor site, I got an error. Did my order go through?

Pinmoor 01-01-2011 07:15 PM

If you are Gale W. it DID yeah. They will ship Monday.
Thank you

Pinmoor 01-01-2011 07:16 PM

Oh yeah, I hope you come back to this Blog and tell everyone what you think of them!

gale 01-01-2011 07:33 PM

Great-thanks! I should be using them very soon.

You stick them in your ears so you can't hear yourself curse when you stick yourself with a pin.

Sorry, couldn't help myself . LOL

lalaland 01-01-2011 08:57 PM

I've never seen these before, just ordered some, my pins are always falling out, if this doesn't solve the problem, I don't think anything will!

EagarBeez 01-03-2011 09:24 AM

I posted on another blog about the pinmoors. I ordered 50 of them and love them. So easy to use, you don't have to mess with safety pins. I love them. My fabric lays flat and just a joy to use these.
Kudos to pinmoor

Pinmoor 01-03-2011 11:41 AM

Thank you so much! People really do need to hear that from someone else. Not just me!
Loretta

Raggiemom 01-03-2011 03:11 PM

I just placed an order for some. They look really useful!

BellaBoo 01-03-2011 04:26 PM

I love Pinmoors. Nothing else will do for me and I've tried everything before finding the Pinmoors, even earring backs. I'm very picky where I spend my money and the Pinmoors are worth the price. I ordered the 100 pack of the green while they are on sale.

gale 01-03-2011 04:39 PM

I just realized I'll need extra pins to use with the pinmoors. I ordered 4 (!!) packs of clover pins from amazon. They are buy 3, get 1 free right now. (I'm also using them for my fabric storage).

Cookquilts 02-15-2011 04:08 PM

I have used Pinmoors. I really like them, they do stay in place, not falling off. They are not made out of the same thing as ear plugs. I think she said silicone.

lynnie k 02-16-2011 05:43 PM
