I would email or call them to ask for a sample. I didn't do that -- just took a chance -- but someone else mentioned getting a sample first.

great suggestion, thanks!

Glad you like it, that's all I use now with my longarm. Can't beat the quality or the price!

I thought you were supposed to use cotton thread so it would shrink with the fabric. Is that incorrect? I have a longarm that I bought used a couple of years ago and am just getting the nerve to put a real quilt on. While practicing, I have been frustrated with tension and thread breakage. After reading the review listed above, I am considering ordering a sample to try. I would appreciate clarification on the cotton vs polyester thread issue. I don't always pre wash fabric. When I do pre wash, it is all the fabric for a quilt or none of it so shrinks uniformly......theoretically.

Old wive's tale, I think. Vintage quilts were hand quilted with cotton thread because that was all that was available. More recently it was often taught to use cotton thread because it would break whereas polyester was too strong, wouldn't break, and instead the fabric fibers would break. Maybe if you were quilting with fishing line nylon, that would be true. These days, though, polyester thread is made so well the whole topic is a non-issue.

Superior Threads offers a lot of informative info about threads. Here's one of their Youtube videos:

Will the bobbins fit into my Designer 1. I couldn't tell by reading the Glide site if the bobbins had plastic sides as that's what my D1 takes.

According to this chart, your Designer 1 takes L bobbins:

Glide prewound bobbins do not have plastic sides; they have a magnetic center core. I think Glide L-size bobbins work in all machines that take L-size bobbins, but I'm not sure specifically about the Designer 1.
