for "the mother of my son..."; "special person..."; "looks great up close..."; "isn't photogenic..."; If these are hints to a puzzle, I'd bet our quilter made this beautiful quilt for herself and doesn't care what the neighbors think, because up close and in her home, it's just what she wants. How am I doing????LOL -

lovingmama 05-10-2011 06:57 AM

Yeah it's missing something, the "Mistake part". The quilt is gorgeous!

Charming 05-10-2011 06:57 AM

Quilters...quilters..quilters...we always torture ourselves because we look at our work so closely....closer that we should. Trust me your quilt is just beautiful and she would love it and so will the whole family.

What do you find wrong with this quilt? I would certainly not be worried about showing this quilt off. It is wonderful, you should be proud

Stitchit123 05-10-2011 07:20 AM

I think its the photographer It was shady on your deck with all those wonderful trees behind the quilt But I can see how beautiful your colors are so I'm sure others will too.

CRicart 05-10-2011 07:23 AM

It has soft seaside colors. Beautiful!!!!!
Sometimes low contrast can be warm and soothing

It's great. What is the pattern? I love it

Quickstep 05-10-2011 07:38 AM

I might even name it "Pleasant Companion." It's wonderful.

The pattern is pretty and the fabrics work well in it.

So - it doesn't jump up and down and scream "look at me" - it is more like the person that one is comfortable with and can confide in.

I think it will be a "pleasant companion" for a long time.

huggyface 05-10-2011 07:43 AM

You can make me one I'll hang it on my balcony, as long as she likes it who cares about the neighbors

RuthEm 05-10-2011 07:43 AM

Pat75 05-10-2011 08:11 AM

It is great.I know what you mean that your heart sank because you imagined something different than what the quilt became. But it did become a gift from you that will cherished and to those of us who do not know what you envisioned it is charming and cozy and something each of us would like to receive.

patmas57 05-10-2011 08:23 AM

JoAnnGC 05-10-2011 08:29 AM

Hi, olebat! My neighbors are not so fussy. Pack up your quilt and come visit me in Canton, GA. We'll hang it from my deck rail and admire it from the pool. If we have any objections from any of my neighbors we'll take it down promptly. If my neighbors approve of it, as I'm sure they will, you can just leave it hanging there :)

Seriously, it's beautiful and your friend and all of her neighbors will agree!

debbieoh 05-10-2011 08:37 AM

I am really sorry but I don't see anything wrong with it. So if there is a mistake somewhere I don't see. I myself would LOVE th even hang it in my family room ffor everyone to see. Its just beautiful

luvstoquilt 05-10-2011 08:44 AM

I love your colors

wraez 05-10-2011 09:07 AM

oh heavens, you are too critical. This looks great! Be happy that you didn't make a huge visible error or spill black ink on it.

Your friend will be so delighted with it. I would be ever grateful to receive this wonderful quilt.

Sandra in Minnesota 05-10-2011 09:20 AM

I love it and I am sure she will love it too.

katiebear1 05-10-2011 09:23 AM

What do you think is wrong with it? Looks lovely to me.

Nini61948 05-10-2011 09:38 AM

Who cares if it is or isn't photogenic :?:

What matters, is that it A: looks good close up, B: stayed together through the wash, C: is cuddly like you wanted it to be, D: is her colors and theme. Sounds like perfection to me!

Don't be hard on yourself - it's wonderful!

Scakes 05-10-2011 09:39 AM

I think it is a lovely quilt and will be a beautiful gift. You did a very nice job.

Close, but no cigar. She is the natural mother, but she loaned her wonderful son to me for a year when he came to Amerika. The Wall had just come down, and he got an exchange scholarship. It was hard to let their only child leave. At the same time he was here, I won a trip to Europe, and elected to spend a week in his home. When I first met his parents, we were instant family. I too will miss his dad. We can only communicate by gestures and eye contact. I speak little German, and what I do know is an entirely different dialect. She knows no English. Eyes tell a lot. We stayed in her beach condo a few days after the wedding. These were the exact colors, and theme she had used to decorate. I couldn't resist. It's for her. OK, I pretended I was she while I made it. Puzzle solved?

decky 05-10-2011 09:52 AM

Looks good to me, can't see anything wrong with it.

MargeD 05-10-2011 10:04 AM

sylviasmom 05-10-2011 10:17 AM

Its a beautiful quilt!! But oh the Funk & Wagnal bit, the root word is cuddle, ie cuddlebily or cuddlesome. Either way it is still a beautiful quilt. You friend will love it and her neigbhors will envy her.

winia 05-10-2011 10:18 AM

Its beautiful.

Quiltbeagle 05-10-2011 10:53 AM

I think the photo was possibly taken in not-to-great lighting conditions but I don't see anything wrong with this quilt. You did beautiful work and I think the colors are just perfect for a beach location. Please take another photo in a sunny area so you can appreciate how pretty this quilt really is!
