Just because it is not weird, flashy colors does not mean it is not beautiful because it really is. It looks llike a quilt made for comfort, not one making you want to jump and shout.

Not saying that Germans are like Poles, but I've made simple patchwork (that is PLAIN squares that are various colored, but usually color coordinated) and given them away. Several people have reported that theirs were stolen off clothes lines. Guess someone else liked them as well!

But I'm hoping that the Germans are more honest...they do have the reputation of being more so. :)

ARe you going to tell us the rest of your story...I am in suspense because I can't see anything wrong.

Ziva 05-10-2011 11:42 AM

Looks good to me.

Bev 05-10-2011 11:43 AM

Ohmygosh!! Do we have to worry now about how photogenic our quilts are??
Yours is a very lovely quilt. As far as I can tell, without using a magnifying glass, it's perfect! If anyone is worrying about how it'll look in a picture, just don't let them take a picture of it. The recipient of the gift will love it. And don't ever tell her that you think it looks awful in a photo. That will be our little secret.

tlcquiltnut 05-10-2011 11:45 AM

I like it very much...sometimes we are our own worst critic, enjoy this beautiful quilt...

Then I hung it for a photo. It looks great up close, but it isn't photogenic. The neighbors won't be impressed from their flats as she hangs it out to air on her balcony. I looked at the 10 shots . . . and now you know the rest of the story.

I really do not see a thing wrong with it. a beautiful quilt...

Your quilt is a real beauty!! Lovely fabrics, a great pattern, and terrific quilting! Give yourself a pat on the back! :)

brightstar_202 05-10-2011 12:18 PM

I must have missed something as I do not see a thing wrong with it? Where is the bad areas or what are you talking about. It is beautiful and you did a good job, why would you not like it? If the neighbors don't like it fine it is not for them anyway. Enjoy it you did great.

leiladylei54 05-10-2011 12:50 PM

What's the problem with the quilt....I couldn't see it. I think it's beautiful.

The quilt is beautiful. The quilting is stunning. I think the recipient will treasure it forever. Go outside, take a little walk and smell the fresh air. Come back in and open your eyes wide. Wouldn't you be absolutely delighted if someone made you such an exquisite quilt?

GrammaNan 05-10-2011 02:03 PM

i think she will have the prettiest balcony in the neighborhood.

Feathers 05-10-2011 02:06 PM

The quilt is gorgeous but I really like the smiling face peeking out from under the quilt

quiltingnana1 05-10-2011 02:34 PM

I don't see anything wrong with it. Like your colors. Think your friend will love it!

IrishNY 05-10-2011 02:39 PM

I love it. It's not supposed to jump off the balcony and knock the neighbors over. :D

Subtlety is a good thing!

Well, we are usually critical of our own work, but like all the others I see a beautiful quilt that has lots of love stitched into it.

Bonnie 05-10-2011 03:08 PM

no time 2 sew 05-10-2011 03:38 PM

what it doesn't loose is that it was made by someone who took their time to make it. Also that it has a lot of careing sewn in. If it were on my line it would look GREAT!

Great-great granny 05-10-2011 03:45 PM

It is BEAUTIFUL - you're too critical of yourself. I'm sure it will be well love & appreciated.

laurac 05-10-2011 03:50 PM

quilting librarian 05-10-2011 03:54 PM

It's beautiful! I would love looking at it hanging on the balcony as a neighbor!

barnbum 05-10-2011 04:02 PM

That is a beautiful quilt. Why did your heart sink?? I'm confused?? You should have this put in "Pictures" so everyone over there, who doesn't come here, will see it. LOVE the pattern.

koko 05-10-2011 04:08 PM

I love the quilt and the colors in it - it's very soothing looking. Who wouldn't want to wrap up in it?

yellowsnow55 05-10-2011 05:37 PM

There's nothing wrong with the quilt, it's absolutely gorgeous ❤ it. I think it's the background you chose, that's why you think it doesn't photograph too well. Perhaps try again and I'm sure you'll love it.

sewnsewer2 05-10-2011 05:48 PM

Nancy O. 05-10-2011 07:47 PM

I made one just like yours at a quilting class in 2010 at Joann's. My husband loves lighthouses and he helped me when I had a few issues with putting it together. Mine is just a little smaller. I don't remember the size. Mine is 5 blocks across and 5 blocks down. When I was making it, I was not real happy with it at the end. I think I was tired of making it. Now when I look at it, I love it. It looks nice when it's in the lighting in my home. I only stitched in the ditch.
I think your quilt and the quilting look beautiful.
