I like that pattern. Yet another one to go on my to-do list. *heavy sigh*

Really touching story about why the quiltmaker made the quilt. Hope her meeting went well.
Barb in Louisiana, great job grafting it. Sassylass, thanks for the MSQC link. |

It is the same block just turned different ways. I drew it in EQ7 and found that the block is just rotated each time. I used a 6 inch block, which would be 1 1/2" finished logs. Layout, 6x8 = 48 blocks.
First border is 1/2" Second border is 1 1/2" Third is 4 inches. Final is binding at 1/2 inch. Final quilt size is 66"x77" |
I haven't been on the board for a couple of days and I see so many more replies for help in identifying the block! Barb you always are so generous with your time and the EQ that you have so much talent in creating visual patterns! Thank you so much!!!! I so appreciate the link to MSQ and the tutorial there. Again, many thanks to all.

Very pretty block and really special story to go with it.

Ok. My brain must have left me for some place better, because I can't get the math to come out to the final size of 66 x 77. If each section is 6" (6 1/2" unfinished) and it takes 4 to make a square, shouldn't the finish square equal 12 1/2" (12" finished)? So 6 sections (or 3 squares) across should equal 36 1/2"And even if I add in the borders , I still can't get close to the finished size. Could someone tell me where my math mistake is at or where my brain went? Thanks

Oops! My bad. I made the blocks as 8 inch squares in EQ7. But, you don't make squares with this. A 6x8 quilt will give you a 61x77 if you use the finished borders I posted. (I can only say that I didn't read the EQ7 correctly. Hope I didn't mess anyone up. (I'm going to blame it on the vertigo and allergies I have.) First border is 1/2" Second border is 1 1/2" Third is 4 inches. Final is binding at 1/2 inch. Final quilt size is 61"x77" 6 x 8 48 x 64 .5 .5 1.5 1.5 4.0 4.0 MSQC made this border 5 inches so their finished quilt is 63x79 .5 .5 TOTAL 61x77 All borders have to be doubled. My apologies again. Good thing someone found the pdf from MQC. Edited to add: MSQC started at the center putting it together. You can enlarge this quilt easily. |
i was thinking the hst 6 inches, and then 12 inch blocks. OK.
