The other night my DH made a pizza, which he does far to often. He cooks, I clean up. Works great. But while I was washing the pizza cutter, the only thing that came to mind was...oh my goodness I wonder how this would work cutting material. I didn't ofcourse, but the brain is only working one way right now. Then the other night was watching Christmas at Rockefeller center. It was really nice, but when the program ended and the peacock showed up...all I could think about was, on my goodness it's 1/2 Dresden plate. Then just a few minutes ago Wendy's Quilts a member here posted a picture of her puppy wearing his new "coat of many colors" then that made me think....Oh my goodness does Dolly Parton still have her coat of many colors she sang about, and would she now understand just how lucky she was.

I think I really need a pill.....or maybe just chocolate.

quiltsRfun 12-02-2010 11:14 AM

Go for the chocolate. LOL

Mousie 12-02-2010 11:17 AM

Everywhere I go...quilt blocks to draw.
Everything I see...ohh, look at that color. Bet it would look yummy in a quilt.
I even stopped a lady once to ask her what color that was, the name of it, on her jacket!
I see color combinations I have to make note of...
Quilts and blocks and tools are everywhere, there everywhere...
and only those blessed with a quilters mind and heart are fortunate enough to notice!
Yeah, I'm going for the chocolate!

dgsmom 12-02-2010 11:17 AM

i too would go for the chocolate because i don't like to take meds

Char 12-02-2010 11:20 AM

Definitely chocolate!

luvTooQuilt 12-02-2010 11:24 AM

I can relate.. I walk in to a room and see the patterns on the tile or carpet and imagine a quilt block..

Quiltforme 12-02-2010 11:30 AM

I feel like that kid in the ghost movie... I SEE QUILT BLOCKS! I found a cosmetic case my kids have and studied the pattern in the material I know it would make a wonderful quilt!!

cbridges22 12-02-2010 11:38 AM

We are replacing our ceiling in our kitchen with grooved wood panels and there are two points in the middle where it will intersect.I ask my DH if he could make it look like a log cabin block,he laughed and said of course.I am lucky to have a DH that gets it.

Central Ohio Quilter 12-02-2010 11:55 AM

Tile floors and mosaic floors and parquet floors! Wonderful places to look for quilt patterns!

Hilarious!! Thanks for making me laugh!!

Grandmama Pat 12-02-2010 12:07 PM

I agree! They're everywhere!!!!!

sahm4605 12-02-2010 12:26 PM

Its awful. I am going to the restroom and looking around and just thinking about how the tiles or whatever would make a wonderful block in a quilt or even a whole quilt. I think its a sign of a very great mind. like Einstein or something

AngieS 12-02-2010 12:26 PM

It's a disorder! LOL!!!

Grandmama Pat 12-02-2010 12:27 PM

Yes, a mental disorder called Quiltitis.

AngieS 12-02-2010 12:27 PM

I must say that while sitting at Captain D's today they have the tile on the little half wall where you order. I was sitting on the little seat they have there and I looked....I was thinking those look like a 4 patch. There were 3 and they were blue and white. I had to make sure they were going in the same direction! :)

klgreene 12-02-2010 12:34 PM

LOL I'm so glad I'm not alone. It really is a disorder....it's probably one of the only disorders I actually like.

When all else fails ..CHOCOLATE!!

TN Donna 12-02-2010 12:47 PM

I doubt if Dolly still has the courdory coat anymore but I think you need a good chocolate break. I too get weird ideas.

plainjane 12-02-2010 01:49 PM

Take 2 chocolates and repost in the morning......:)

pstoner 12-02-2010 01:58 PM

Please have chocolate (but not next to any WIP). Much better than any pill I have every been prescribed.

chickadeee55 12-02-2010 02:08 PM

Have two chocolates, and continue quilting. Too funny

Victoria L 12-02-2010 02:54 PM

I vote for CHOCOLATE! :)

dforesee 12-02-2010 02:59 PM

I think we've all got the same bug.

Pinkiris 12-02-2010 03:04 PM

I think it's the disease called "quilting pox"! Controlled with chocolate, but never completely cured.

Bonnie from Quiltville.com has posted pictures, taken with her cell phone, of mosaic tile patterns in the ladies' rooms that she's been in!

You're not alone in your affliction---

Sue

I LOVE IT!!! I can totally relate. I don't think there is a pill to fix it, and if you ever find one please don't tell us other "Mad Quilters" I'm sure everyone knows what I mean when I say "I don't wanna be fixed." LOL

I just read this one to my husband and asked him if it reminded him of anyone. Guess what he said?????

NauDeeGal 12-02-2010 03:38 PM

I can relate. The marble floor on my way into the building I work in is laid out in a single irish chain pattern.

One time on an overnight trip, we walked into the hotel lobby, and I looked at the pattern in the tile floor. I said, "That would make a great looking quilt". My daughter's jaw dropped, and she said "Mom...that's enough!! No quilting this weekend!" It cracked me up!!!

I think we all have the same problem. Several months ago there was a posting here of a lady in a subway in Germany or somewhere in Europe who took pictures of the beautiful tile work and said something like, " Doesn't this just scream QUILT to you?" I do that everywhere. We are just artistic sickies.

sosewcrazy 12-02-2010 04:14 PM

Yep. I think we quilters see the world in a totally different way! And I just bought some dark chocolate :) Time to sew!

grann of 6 12-02-2010 04:22 PM

You people and your chocolate!!! I can't eat it, it gives me a migraine. But I can drink wine, or the white chocolate Reeses peanut butter cups. Ohhhh! Time for a couple.....

hannajo 12-02-2010 04:50 PM

ALL DAY LONG! At the house where I nanny, I've actually taken pictures of coffee cups and floors that (someday) I plan to make blocks of. And then I take the baby out for a walk, and every house with molding or brickwork starts me going again. And to make matters worse, the mother works in the tile industry, so she has lots of books about decorative tiling...

tjradj 12-02-2010 05:09 PM

Chocolate comes from cocoa.
Cocoa comes from a bean.
Beans are a vegetable.
And vegetables are good for you.
Therefore, chocolate is good for you!!
I live by this creed.

AndiR 12-02-2010 05:53 PM

Nope, sorry, no pill.....you're infected and there's no cure!! LOL

I see quilt patterns/designs everywhere. I was at a retreat last year, sitting in the bathroom (!!!!) looking at the floor thinking "that would make a great block pattern". A few months later, my retreat roomie showed me a quilt she had designed. I immediately said "You made the bathroom floor!!!!"

Your disease will only get worse......
